Undead

The various forms of undead are created when a corpse is invested with, usually, necromantic arcane energy to give it animation and a semblance of life. The more powerful the energy, the more often it needs to be replenished, but the more aware the undead will be.   Servitors are undead animated by magic and entirely lacking in intellect. They obey simple commands without question or initiative. This group includes zombies and skeletons.   The hungry are material undead able to refuel their own animating force, usually by consuming all or part of a living being. This group includes animalistic undead like ghouls, but also powerful and intelligent beings such as vampires.   The unfleshed are undead whose body has been burned away or discarded, leaving only the animating power in its insubstantial form.   The bound are intelligent undead who have assumed that state in order to preserve their own existence beyond death.
