Khalnar is a large habitable planet with the surface comprised mostly of massive ice sheets and frozen wasteland with pockets of volcanic activity and large oceans spread across the surface. Ice sheets extend several kilometres below the surface, making it difficult to distinguish them from the surrounding solid terrain. While large stretches of Khalnar's surface are nothing more than long, near-featureless snow plains, generally located on the largest ice sheets where little tectonic activity takes place, many areas have geographic formations, usually in areas with high levels of volcanic activity either near or on the surface.
