Estrina

Estrina is the name given to both the first permanent habitable station deployed by the Siathan Court and the largest known artificial body capable of sustaining a permanent population. While they are technically separate entities, as latter is the construction which the former resides upon, the term is often used to refer to both at the same time.

As the artificial nature of Estrina's surface limits expansion without introducing massive costs and potential for catastrophe, the city is densely built, with no real 'outside' as is common to cities on natural bodies. In essence, the entire city is one gigantic building, although this is really just a technical definition, as there are clear defined gaps between public spaces similar to thoroughfares and squares commonly found in more traditional cities, and private areas for businesses and residences.   The city is divided into five districts, although they are rather loosely defined and is more just for ease of grouping industries together for navigation between them rather than any administrative purpose.

Outside District

While not actually outside, the Outside District gets its name due to having the main spaceport, making it the first area visitors encounter. Originally, the Outside District was home to services intended to support the quick transit of goods and people, allowing ships to pass through quickly in order to keep the flow of ships high.   In the modern day however, the Outside District houses a lot of high end accommodations, museums, restaurants and other 'tourist-y' services, all aimed at those who would visit in order to learn more about the first space settlement.

Goods District

Located in the rough center of Estrina, the Goods District serves as the distribution hub, housing many warehouses and stores in order to ensure that there's a smooth supply of resources to the other areas of the city. While commercial stores weren't as common during the earlier days, with warehouses taking up most of the space, as the need for pure self-sufficient and vast stockpiling has decreased, the amount of needed warehouse space has also gone down, allowing more areas to be used for retail stores aimed at turning a profit.

Home District

Housing is found in every district, commonly directly attached to businesses to allow for the workers to have as little of a commute as possible. However, not everyone has a need to be attached to a business, and so the Home District contains a vast amount of housing and supporting services such as childcare, education, and recreational spaces.  

Support District

Self-sufficiency was a key requirement for the original construction of Estrina and the Support District is the heart of that goal. Containing generators, purification systems, farms, manufacturing plants, workshops, and more, the Support District both supplies the basic needs of the population and contains the facilities and resources to repair and replace the vast majority of the city's equipment.   It also contains a small docking area of its own, usually to allow essential supplies to be brought in easily without navigating through the main spaceport, or to serve as a secondary evacuation point should the need arise.

Economy

Despite innovations in the fields of starship fuel and supplies have made frequent resupplies less of a necessity, Estrina remains a popular stop for those who would rather not deal with planetary approaches or large crowds that come with the more traditional stops in the Trigar system. While supplies and fuel make up a large portion of Estrina's economy, tourism has recently overtaken it as the largest industry by revenue
