Discerning Eye

Discerning Eyes are members of The Winged Children that are employed as full-time researchers. While the title is used to describe anyone employed full-time for the purposes of research, the role is incredibly varied in actual responsibilities and assignments.  

Origins

During the days of Selrok's Children, Discerning Eyes were responsible for remembering and recounting the travels of the cult, providing valuable knowledge as where resources can be location, areas of note and generally able to spread the knowledge of their faith in more depth than what the Guiding Breaths typically did.   As Selrok's Children evolved into The Winged Children, Discerning Eyes moved into more dedicated preservation and research roles, especially as they traveled less and settled down into larger settlements. With the greater connectivity the Siathan Court brought, Discerning Eyes found themselves with more and more writings, artefacts and locations to document and study. At the same time, jobs outside of The Winged Children became more of a necessity and many Discerning Eyes started to only serve part-time, leading to the creation of the concept of Eyes as part-time researchers, rather than Discerning Eyes who still served in full-time in a research capacity.
