Human Enhancement Virus

an Arcanovirus developed by the Society for the Advancement of Human Biology in order to enhance humanity. An individual injected with the HEV may, given enough genetic fortitude, end up becoming an Aelf.

Genetics and Reproduction

A modification of the original Stoneskin Virus adapted for the Human genome.

Growth Rate & Stages

Individuals infected with the HEV undergo a five year chrysalis-based metamorphosis. After this period they have a small but nonzero chance of emerging as an Aelf. Failed candidates emerge instead as a pile of slime.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Requires presence of a mana field during the chrysalis stage of metamorphosis, but the final Aelf is capable of sustaining themselves on their own mana field just like a Human.
