The Cryas Boreman Murder Investigation

An investigation into the grisly murder & cannibalization of Cryas Boreman, a prominent Ornethian conspiracy theorest & True Ornethian supremacist. The investigation was run by the Lower Nest Police Department with assistance from third-party detectives & direction/influence from the central Ornethian Government.

Session 1

The boys return to Ornethia thanks to EA reopening a portal; he gives them a magic eye to leave in the city for his own reconnaissance.

They arrive to find Cryas Boreman’s kitchen completely ablaze, with smoke billowing from the chimney. They see Cryas Boreman’s charred skeleton on the table, surrounded by four dinner plates. Detective Bryce contracts them as independent investigators to solve the crime, wishing to avoid the appearance of political bias by the Ornethian Guard. They are left with Officers Doogie & Finch to assist (and secretly monitor) the investigation.

Session 2

After some racist bird banter, Doogie & Finch head off to find other points of entry. The boys find several clues and follow up on the Centranest Research Group lead. Officer Finch gets beaten up by 4 beefed-up Centranest Guards. They meet Dr. Ikthos, who explains the Aarakocran Superiority Improvement Project & comments on how he’s “above racism” and only cares about scientific advancement. The boys consider their other clues: Orly’s feather, a cease & desist letter from the Grounders, and Cryas’ old war buddies who fought with him during the Gnome Wars.

Clues found in the house:

• Contact book with his old war buddies, who are retired and living in the Mid Roosts
• An owlakocra feather stuck to a charred footprint (Orly’s library)
• Letters from the Grounders, a Lesser Bird activist group, threatening to sue Cryas for defamation/slander/hate speech unless he recalls his current book, due to its disturbing racism & xenophobia. They also request that he withdraw his public comments in favor of a proposed Domestic Council legislation that would require special voter registrations & curfews for Lesser Bird citizens.
• A rejection letter from the Centranest Research Group denying Cryas a spot in one of their genetic experimentation studies. It lists that “Aryan & Avian perfection” is not one of the conditions they asked for when advertising their study and wouldn’t provide any “profitable research benefit”. “DEEP STATE TRYNA ICE ME OUT”
