Alderman's Woods

A lightly forested woodland, of camphor and pine to the  south east of Talioche . Occasional mounds of stone seem to jut randomly from the ground, and rotting hulls of ships lie on their sides or impaled upon trees. Mostly flat, a cluster of small hills just south west of the centre are the only real change in elevation.
The Warstorm
60 years ago, when the Thaumic empire was attempting conquest of its neighbours in the The Camoreyt Sea to the south east, they sent an enormous fleet to fight the smaller, but far better equipped Braumic fleet. The battle would had barely begun when an enormous storm swirled up from nowhere, throwing the warring fleet to the north towards Talioche. From what few reports were transmitted, the rain that fell was hot and salty, and red lightning rippled in the dark sky. A madness gripped the crews on both sides that left them fighting even as the they were swept onto the shore, then thrown yet further by great waves crashing down, or perhaps picked up by wind. The crews, it is said, kept fighting even after both fleets were thrown deep into the Alderman's Forest finding and killing the other side. The storm lingered overhead for three days, and when it finally lifted, there were no survivors of any crew. Just the corpses, of both sailor and ship, and many broken trees. But the crew never stopped fighting, and the ghostly remains of their flesh animates their bones to find more things to kill.   Too this day, the forest is haunted by the wights of the dead navies, and powerful war constructs of the Braumic Kingdom still prowl the forests, fighting amongst each other and savagely attacking any travellers seeking to pass through unharmed.   Six Archdruids of the Circle of Dust came together the following year and cast a great spell over the entire forest, creating the thick grass to grasp and hold any creature that dies upon it, and camphor trees to shed fragrance that weakens the living dead.. The highlands that have few of the undead amongst them are spared and retain a relatively diverse array of trees and understory, watched over by the gnomes of Raywyn Dell

Fauna & Flora

Almost all of the local fauna has been destroyed or replaced by the Order of Dust with White Camphor trees, but the hills and Varies in the centre of the woods still contain many, sheltered from storm and guarded by a secretive village of Forest Gnomes.

Natural Resources

While it would be possible to harvest the white camphors, the isolation and danger makes this impractical. The woods do attract adventurers, hoping to uncover treasures within the many wrecks flung into the forest. Mages and priests of the less savoury variety occasionally visit too study the secrets of the warstorm, and some come in attempts to reclaim the powerful Braumic War-constructs that still prowl there.
