Fowda (F-ow-duh)

The Ancient and Declining country of Fowda on the Lowden continent

Structure

The highest ranking title is High King/Queen, and is a title that can be challenged. Just under High King is prince/princess and are the children of the High King. After Prince/ss there are Lords and Ladys.
The family is taken care of by staff, generally those from their town who were held in high esteem, and given these jobs.

Culture

Diverse Population: Fowda is home to a variety of races, including humans, orcs, goliaths, dragonborns, and tieflings. This diversity contributes to a rich tapestry of traditions, languages, and customs. However, the constant civil conflicts and declining population have likely strained the interactions between these different groups.   Feudal System and Political Instability: The country is governed by a High King whose position can be challenged in a battle to the death. The mysterious wiping out of lords and ladies suggests a feudal system with a history of power struggles and political instability. The frequent civil "wars" have left a mark on the nation, earning it the nickname "Fow-Done."   Religious Practices: The predominant worship in Fowda revolves around the goddess Estanathlei, associated with life and earth. Temples dedicated to Infyudka and Eanna can be found in the southern and northern parts, reflecting a focus on ambition, technology, knowledge, love, brothels, and passion. However, any temples for Torva Messor, the god of death and time, have been desecrated or destroyed, indicating a rejection of those aspects of the divine.   Economic System: Fowda operates on a barter system for its economy, emphasizing trade and exchange of goods and services. The declining population and ongoing conflicts may have led to economic challenges, impacting the prosperity of the country.   Military Weakness and Concerns: Despite facing numerous challenges to the throne, the current High King has survived and maintained his rule. However, public opinion suggests dissatisfaction with his leadership, particularly regarding defense, military strength, and overall improvement of the country's well-being. The lack of a robust military presence may leave towns vulnerable to external threats.

Mythology & Lore

In the ancient annals of Fowda, within the craggy peaks of its mountains, lies the fabled battleground where the gods clashed in a cataclysmic duel. The tale speaks of a forgotten god, a divine entity whose name has been erased from memory and whose deeds are shrouded in the mists of time.   The Forgotten God's Challenge Long ago, when the world was still in its infancy, the gods convened to settle a cosmic dispute that threatened the very fabric of existence. One god, whose identity has since faded into obscurity, challenged Torva Messor, the deity of death and time, to a duel for supremacy. The reasons for this challenge have been lost to history, buried in the whispers of ancient winds.   The Battle Amongst the Peaks The battleground chosen for this epic confrontation was amidst the towering peaks of Fowda's mountains. As the gods clashed, the very earth trembled beneath their celestial might. Lightning arced across the heavens, and thunder echoed through the valleys, marking the ferocity of their struggle.   Torva's Victory and the Plague of Death In the end, the forgotten god succumbed to the relentless power of Torva Messor. The land bore witness to the defeat, and Torva's dominion over death and time was solidified. The victory, however, came at a grave cost for the realm of Fowda. Torva's influence permeated the land, and a somber pallor settled over its once vibrant landscapes.   The aftermath of the battle left an indelible mark on the region. The once-thriving lands were now plagued with death, and the people of Fowda could feel the weight of mortality pressing upon them. It is said that Torva's victory unleashed a force that permeated the very essence of the land, casting a perpetual shadow that haunted its inhabitants for generations to come.   The Silent Remembrance Despite Torva's triumph, the identity and deeds of the forgotten god lingered in the collective unconscious of the people, preserved only in vague whispers and ancient tales. The once-mighty deity became a mere echo of a distant past, erased from memory but leaving an ominous legacy etched into the very soul of Fowda.   Today, the mountains bear witness to the silent remnants of that divine struggle. The peaks stand as stoic sentinels, guarding the secrets of the last battleground of the gods and preserving the haunting memory of a forgotten god and the enduring influence of Torva Messor.
