Military action
The fey are driven south by mankind. Overcrowding fey tribes enter a long bloody conflict with the tribes of the jungles and forests of the south.
Five years after the Great Happening stranded hundreds of thousands of fey species on the world of Gaia, the salamandra and gnomes established their home in the forests and jungles of the south far beyond the effective reach of any major human army. They were broken up into several independent tribes that each had their own territory for hunting and gathering. These territories began to expand as the fey population began to steadily grow until they eventually came into contact with the human tribes among the southern forests of modern day Galatea. At first, the human tribes paid no mind to their strange new neighbors, but the fey's need for more land began to force them into human lands. Several peaceful negotiations were organized to attempt to prevent a turf war between the Raali salamandra tribe and the Yejide human tribe, but they were held in vain. Despite the objections of the gnomish tribes, the salamandra declared war upon the human tribes sparking the beginning of the War of Southern Dominance. Countless skirmishes were fought between the tribes. The Raali tribe under the leadership of Lizane Le Ciel continued to achieve victory after victory as more fey tribes allied themselves with the warrior tribe. With the united might of the salamandra, the human tribes were forced to retreat south. Once the salamandra had taken the major trading hub of the human tribes, Lizane Le Ciel founded the first true fey city Cieth Le Ciel solidifying the salamandra's power over the forest and plains of the south. Over a period of approximately 20 years, the salamandra establish 4 more great cities and found the first fey ruled kingdom of Avalorn with Lizane as its undisputed king. Once the Avalornians had settled into their new kingdom, the War of Southern Dominance began to dwindle. The fey only lightly pushed further into tribal lands slowly overtaking every village they came across; however, the salamandra conquest was reaching its climax. The kingdom of Travenhall north of the Avalorn border was the first human kingdom to recognize the sovereignty of the fey and entered a friendly relationship with them. It was then that Avalorn opened its borders for the first time. The tribes of the south were given a choice by Lizane to either submit to rule of Avalorn or continue to slowly be conquered until there was nothing left of their people. Feeling backed into a wall, the tribes of the south held a grand council in secret marking the first collaboration of the southern jungle tribes in history. After much heated dispute and a large free for all battle for supremacy, the tribes banded together under the victor, Adegoke. At the moment of his victory, the great god, Olorun, appeared in the form of a bright blue moon above the united tribes. Suddenly, the entire population metamorphasized into what we know as the beastfolk today. No one is certain why Olorun did this to his people, but most believe it was to give them the strength they needed to stop the feys' conquest and become a nation of their own. Under his decree, the tribes of the south declared themselves a new independent nation under their chosen king. It was then that the country of Galatea was established with Adegoke as its ruler and the Orisha as their gods. Adegoke led the Galatean forces against their fey invaders putting a dead halt to the Lizane's conquest. After a brief cease in hostility, Lizane offered to negotiate a truce with Adegoke and determine the borders between Avalorn and Galatea once and for all. After 36 hours of compromise and diplomacy, the elves and the Galateans finally reached a truce ending the War of Southern Domination after 52 long years of conflict.
