If Fa’ar and Alysi were to have a ruler, it would be the Smiling Man. He is the only being of considerable power in both of these areas of the plane that is not a mindless creature of pure chaos, and seems to be fairly intelligent and command the respect of its inhabitants. Despite this, he seems to care not for the plane to which he is bound, nor its denizens, the being possessing an innate fascination with other dimensions, and those from them.Powers
The Smiling Man may teleport freely and at will anywhere within Niwaedau, and wields a wide variety of truths that seem to be odd derivations from those used by other gods and beings, along with several completely alien ones.Artifacts
Of these, the Smiling Man creates and gives plenty, almost all beings from different planes that he runs into being offered a souvenir of his. The way they are handed out is almost formulaic, further proof of the Smiling Man’s strangeness relative to his plane. While he stalks those new to Niwaedu, should one of them approach him, the being’s smile almost always grows wider, as his mouth opens and speaks in an indecipherable, eldritch tongue. The creature does not attack those who approach it, and merely attempts to converse with them in such a manner. After said attempt at a conversation had ended, the being typically leaves a “gift” (this could be the carcass of a dead animal, precious gemstones, anything along those lines) come the morn in the place where it had been. Touching this “gift,” or the being itself, is said to bring great, fatal misfortune to its unlucky victim. While this side effect is intentional or not is unknown, hidden behind the being’s smile.History
The Smiling Man is Fa’ar’s most dangerous inhabitant, a pale, 6 ft tall alien creature who resembles a slim human, with a pure-white face that never stops smiling. The creature’s eyes are pure-black, and he wears robes and garb akin to that of which one might expect a traveller to don. Grymlochs, Porlochs, and the Shifted all fear him, and when he walks the planes of Fa’ar they scuttle, slide, or crawl out of his way as fast as they can. The Smiling Man can appear at will anywhere he wants to in Fa’ar, or Alysi, though he rarely strays that close to the void. The Smiling Man takes a deep fascination with those who visit Niwaedu, sometimes, rarely, following them at a distance after their first couple days within the plane, hovering near the edge of their camps, but never entering them, always staying in the shadows that surround them, silent, still, and watching. The Smiling Man does not speak the common tongue, although he appears to be intelligent and well versed in the secrets of the universe, instead speaking in an alien language present only in the visions of the Starving Gods. The Smiling Man rarely resorts to violence, and often merely studies and examines those around him with a gentle, inquisitive curiosity. The origins of the Smiling Man, much like most other things in Niwaedu, is unclear and shrouded in mystery. The connection between him and the Starving Gods is clear, one only needs to hear the tongue he speaks for it to be obvious. Beyond that, however, things become more murky. Is he a servant of an already existing Starving God? Is he a Starving God that somehow managed to enter the plane unbeknownst to his compatriots? Or, perhaps, is he merely a lesser being from one of the worlds that they devoured that is fleeing in their wake. The False One

The False One is one barely known and considered one of the most illusive inhabitants of Niwaedu. Not much else is known- other than it's possible tamperment with that of the Mortal realm and those of the Gaians...The Starving Gods

Influence
The Starving Gods reign supreme over the border between the Void and Niwaedu, but the actual sphere of their influence is far greater. They can send visions and messages in their strange tongue to anyone within Niwaedu, and can even, on special dates when the distances between the planes shrink, send these messages to other worlds. Powers Beyond the obvious strengths that come with being a planet-sized mass of teeth, tentacles, and eyeballs, the Starving Gods also possess the ability to send visions of themselves to any who are within their sphere of influence, the frequency and strength of them increasing the nearer one is to the Gods. Their power when compared to other divine entities is unknown, although, individually, their strength is great, even amongst divines.Artifacts
The Starving Gods have no need or desire to make such trinkets, save for several smooth black stones, which, when held, amplify their ability to send visions to its holder, allowing a direct, stable line of communication. These rocks are scattered throughout Niwaedu, and are very rare.History
The Starving Gods are the void’s only visible inhabitants, massive, planet-sized creatures, made of eyes, mouths, limbs, and tentacles. They are beings that live only to consume, the gods of forgotten worlds and planes that had devoured them whole. This matter was then repurposed to fuel their own forms, consuming so much so fast causing them to twist and distort, the consumers losing all fragments of their former selves as they lost control of the power at their disposal, it warping and twisting their bodies so that they were fit only for further consumption and to replicate the feeling of fullness that they felt when they consumed their worlds. And how that hunger has grown, in the long eons they have spent in the void, watching the plane of Niwaedu, and all those connected to it, and waiting. For if one Starving God makes a move for the plane, which happens frequently and often, another will move to stop them, seeking the prize to be theirs, the two becoming locked in a colossal battle until both parties are forced to break away. Such is the situation at the cusp of the void, all those who look on watching in horror as they see dozens of Starving Gods staring back at them, waiting for their time to strike. The whispering and visions that travelers had experienced earlier on their journey would multiple a hundredfold, all who stood in the presence of the starving gods being bombarded by whispers and visions in an ancient, animalistic tongue that they could somehow understand was urging them to jump and/or push their fellows into the void, and then make for the specific starving God. Pendants of Oldstone, dampen these whispers and visions and make them bearable, although prolonged exposure to them could still easily drive the viewer into insanity or compliance, especially when working in tandem with the clossalal scale of the beings in front of them. The Starving Gods, for there are many of them, all come from different worlds, universes, backgrounds, and planes. Whether they once lived on since-devoured worlds of the creator dragon’s domain, or came from other, alien universes, they all share the same history, a history of bloodshed, hunger, and consumption. Some gods grow tired as eternity after eternity after eternity passess, their existences filled with naught but meaningless conflicts with their rivals. Either this boredom, or a desire to obliterate their divine enemies, eventually leads them to begin to crave, and lust, for greater and greater power, as well as improving and enlarging their form. To accomplish this, the god will consume the souls and beings of some foolish mortals who opposed them, and, when that is done, at least, in the future starving god’s case, it does not satiate them. They are driven further, and further, and further by their now ever-present hunger, eventually not even just consuming souls, but matter and energy itself. This new influx of material makes them strong, and powerful, but it does nothing to quench their thirst, instead only driving them to consume more and more and more. This drive almost certainly leads to the destruction and consumption of the world in which the god makes its home if they are not stopped by their fellows, which is an unfortunately rare occurrence. Not only does this hunger lead to the destruction of planes, it also corrupts the god who bears it. Their form becomes a mass of tentacles and mouths so as to make eating their quarry easier, and their minds become shells of what they once were, constantly racked with an ever-present desire to feed. Many of these gods become lost in the void, floating through it with nothing near them for billions of light years. A select minority of them, however, have been alerted to the mass, energy, and souls in our universe, and thus they have made their way to Niwaedu, its edge. It is there that they stay, each god being stopped from feeding on this new quarry by the others, who desire it just as much as them. Waiting and watching. The Living Storm

Influence
The Living Storm has almost complete influence over its domain, namely, the ground underneath it. It cares not for anything that is not near it, and, well, anything that is near it will soon be eaten by the storm.Powers
It's the size of a hurricane, it's virtually indestructible, and it can eat basically anything it wants with impunity.Artifacts
The Living Storm is mindless, and therefore cannot make items.History
Over a certain part of Fa’ar, which is impossible to determine, because one cannot make a map of the Shifting Planes, a hurricane lies. A giant monster, so massive in size that it has taken the guise of a storm 20 miles in diameter. From a distance, it looks as if it were a normal hurricane, complete with rain, flashes of lightning, and the rest. As one grows closer, and the being looms over the horizon, it becomes obvious that it is no mere storm. One could see hundreds of blood-red limbs the size of giant trees reaching down from the storm clouds, breaking open the very earth itself to claw at the organic matter underneath it. These limbs then rise slowly back up into the stormcloud itself with their new prizes, feeding them to massive mouths the sizes of castles that appear in the storm clouds, shaped similarly to those of the Grymloch. As a viewer drew closer to the living storm, they could hear moaning coming from it as the monster engorged itself on the land underneath it, leaving it bare, dry, and barren. Shadows of the Storm’s hideous true form would be revealed in the clouds as it fed. Any travellers foolish enough to enter its domain would receive similar treatment to the land, no mortal creature being able to fend off the Storm. Nobody is sure who, or what, made the living storm. It's not like you can ask it. Some say it was created as a byproduct of the chaotic energies of Niwaedu itself, others, who are more versed in the darker secrets of the plane, claim that it is a lesser Starving God that somehow broke free of its constraints in the void and made it to Niwaedu. More still claim it was once a lowly porloch, that grew in size and mass so fast that it eventually took the guise of the Storm. In truth, it is unlikely that the secrets of its origins will ever become known to mortals, and the many different cults and scholars who tried to learn more about the Storm all only ended up joining their predecessors in its belly.
