Vast Green

Primordial Nature

Stretching from the southern coast of Freid to the edge of the Coral Mountains, the Vast Green is a huge forest that covers a large part of the southern half of the continent. It is considered the single largest forest in the world of Gai'ia, only interrupted by but a few large fields of grassland before giving way to the Dreamer's Highlands. Throughout, winding rivers offer reprise from the tight forest canopy, coalescing into the Pearl. These rivers also act as borders between the various sections of the Vast, dividing into the Gloomed, Emerald and Sunstruck Green.

The Gloomed Green

The northernmost section of the Vast, the Gloomed Green holds an overflowing amount of spiritual energy. This connection, this overabundance of life, has pulled it into a state of constant darkness. The canopy has grown so tight no sunlight can reach through, and underneath all manner of creatures roam. The energy that courses through every tree and inhabitant is incredibly volatile, giving way to a staggering amount of Gobbos. As such, the Gloomed is considered the most dangerous portion of land on Freid.

The Emerald Green

The eastern portion of the Vast, and the most gentle. This gentle nature has long been inhabited by vaettir, and it is maybe because of this that no strong spiritual hold has taken over the vivid greenery found here. The trees sway gently, its canopy is not too tight, letting sun peek through layered leaves and lush forest grass. Running through is a long stretch of grassland, dubbed the Trail. Many small human settlements dot this huge field, and this section of the Vast is generally considered the most easily-lived. Do not be fooled, however, as it is also the most ancient of all forests. Many old dangers loom, Wandering Engines and old ruins alike.

The Sunstruck Green

The southern Vast, bordering on the edge of the Golden Falls. Gold and red sand decorate the flora, carried from the Sha'ra's Rest desert by powerful winds blowing from the Azure Hair. Here the trees lean on each other, lending to a strange but beautiful forest that has no equal in its local flora. The plants here shudder to shake off the sand that often gather on them, in a display that is often likened to a dance.
