World Ember 2025 Pledge

Background: I've always been a massive fan of world building and have been doing it ad hoc for a very long time. I only just recently joined this site it hopefully start to consolidate all my ideas and the disparate notes I've got laying around. This event is a great opportunity to formalise the Divine Family Tree and Systems of Magic. This is my focus as I know for certain that my world is high fantasy and magic plays a fundamental role in everything else that will come after.

As I'm still in the just-starting phase, I haven't got a prep bingo yet, but keen to get started on the challenge.

Writing Goal: I've set the target at the minimum goal of 10k. While I've some smaller writing projects, such as submissions to the Motherboard Zine kickstarter or essays back in university, I haven't attempted something of this scale. I'm aiming for this to be the first step in improving my long form writing so this time next year I can enter the 25k+ word category.

Why?: As part of my current creative hobby I've started to develop a full TTRPG system. It's fairly close to some very early playtesting but I've started to fully consider the world that I want to set it in. For this I have leant on some old notepads I wrote in around a decade ago for a homebrew DnD campaign that I ran and have started to transcribe those notes into the world on this site. It's from those notepads and a decade more of experience in life, fiction and non-fiction that I want to fully flesh out this world. Starting with the Divine Family Tree that will be the goal of this challenge.
