Skippers
A skipper is a form of water transport designed for relatively calm water without strong currents or waves, this includes calm streams, lakes and swamps. A skipper operates by skimming the surface of the water using a pointed hull and two bracers on either side. Because most of the vehicle is not touching the water they are easy to manouver around curves and into tight areas. They are light and weildly enough to easily be able to slide them from land into water and back to land.
Skippers are light and designed for speed and agility but they are not good at carrying large loads and can easily be thrown off balance if the weight is not distributed evenly. They can also be tipped fairly easily in the hands of an inexperienced sailer, sharp turns , large rock and heavy cargo can all cause a Skipper to topple and roll in disacterous manner.
Skippers are primarily used for small water transport and for fishermen, its common to see skippers dragging long nets behind them as to skim the water for fish, some use the vessel to collect fruit that grows in mangroves along the water and some use them to trade small amounts to different settlements. Going by water can be advantageous as the water ways are far less expensive and regulated compared to caravans and the Elven Network Trade Route.
Skippers are almost insect like in appearance they have two long mandible-like prongs that can be used to attach nets or cargo as well as four slender an long supports anchoring the bracers to the main body. Thy typically have a rudder and one sail that can be pivoted to catch the wind. Skippers typically have two sailors one for the rudder and one for the sails, but one seated versions are starting to become more common. The vessel also has a crystalline engine that uses power crystals as a fuel sourc, this helps the vessel be propelled forwards regardless of wind and current.
