Wartermelon

Stubborn Treat Florabeast

Shiny and slick on the outside while sweet on the inside, Wartermelons represent the dual nature of Florabeasts quite well. Temperamentally they are obstinate and stubborn, refusing to obey anyone but their planter, and not hesitating to use their sharp black tusks whenever even slightly provoked. Their strength and endurance more than make up for their behavioral shortcomings, and Guardiners find regular use for them in their lines of work.

Wartermelons excel at digging, and can clear brush and grass from large swaths of land if left to their own ends. That land is then highly fertile for specific kinds of crops such as melons and squashes, making this Florabeast the friend of the farmer as well as the Guardiner.

Name Explanation
The first part of the compound word watermelon matches with the first part of the compound word warthog. Also, in colloquial rural or Southern English, "water" is commonly pronounced "warter," so the name of this Florabeast might not be a joke at all in certain regions.
