Mistletoad

Glossy Poison Florabeast

Mistletoad are a species of Florabeast with a storied history among planters, as they are both very useful and very dangerous. All species secrete a sticky slime from their backs and sides, which can be scraped off and harvested without harming the creature. The usefulness of this slime is variable, with one species having a high toxicity, another's serving as a powerful glue, and yet another giving off a faint luminescence visible at night. Because of this potential, most people give Mistletoad a wide berth and leave their handling to trained zoobotanists and Guardiners.

While mistletoe is commonly a parasitic plant that grows on trees and large bushes, Mistletoads do not exhibit this characteristic. They do grow in clusters with many sprouts in a small space, but do not take over other creatures or plants to propagate or live. Mistletoad require bodies of water to thrive and must root either in or very near the water.
