Magnolion

Ancient Petal Florabeast

With its exceptional beauty and fearsome power, the Magnolion has been a popular choice for planters throughout the generations. In fact, records exist of its cultivation in the oldest known civilizations, and fossils have been discovered that date back to the same era as the giant lizards and Florabeasts that once roamed the earth. Whether or not those ancient specimens were wild or tame, we can never tell, but we do know they have been around much longer than we have.

The brilliantly-colored petals that make the Magnolion so famous ring their necks and lie flat against their backs, making them even more striking against the dark brown bark that covers the rest of their bodies. These petals are the pride of Magnolion breeders, who work season after season to find the brightest colors and most attractive hues. The beasts themselves are not content with sitting back on their laurels and being admired, though. They take their cues from the mighty predators they derive from, and their powerful claws and teeth are enough to drive off most other threats, even without having to use them.

For all of their beneficial qualities, though, planting and working with a Magnolion comes with a caveat. They are very early risers, usually up well before the rooster crows and the Chickory start scratching around. Their inquisitive nature compels them to patrol their territory, or explore a new space, which can sometimes cause trouble if their planter is still fast asleep.

Name Explanation
The last two syllables of 'magnolia' are similar to the two syllables of 'lion'. The beauty of the magnolia petals fit with the majestic mane of the lion. This is one of those Florabeasts where the pronunciation widget is important, as it doesn't sound like it looks.
