Ivyper

Irritating Serpent Florabeast

Small, agile, and commonly confused for their less toxic brethren among both flora and fauna, Ivyper are an excellent reason to not go tromping through the brush without adequate protection. Within their mouths are two hollow thorns that resemble a snake’s fangs, and which they use to deliver a potent toxin to any creature that threatens them.

Any animal, including a human, exposed to an Ivyper’s poison will find themselves broken out in a severe rash. Other Florabeasts will have their sap systems hampered and movement will be hindered.

Contact with their skin and leaves also results in dermal irritation, although prolonged contact grants immunity to even the most serious bites.

Name Explanation
The -vy sound in ivy almost matches the vi- sound in viper. Standard, non-poison ivy is a sinuous, vining plant, similar in nature to a snake. Poison ivy and poisonous (venomous) snakes are similar.
