Gobblin
Nearly every culture across the world has stories about little people; dwarves, elves, kobolds, leprechauns, imps, duendes. After much research and discussion with the people in question, the agreement is that they all either are or are related to Gobblins.
A fully-grown Gobblin is only as tall as a small child, though there are some who tower over the others at waist-height to a man. The colors of their skin differ with region and family group, but are usually bright: green, purple, blue, pink and red have all been seen before. No matter their differences, the one thing they all have in common is their massive appetites. In spite of their small size, a young Gobblin can out-eat even the stoutest human, and the more active they are, the more food they want.
And not just any food, either. Gobblins seem to hate raw food, whether that be a vegetable plucked right from the field or a nut just fallen off a tree. They cook everything they eat, so Gobblin camps are easy to spot from the constantly-burning cookfires. Since food is harder or easier to come by depending on the season, they rarely settle down in cities, preferring instead to roam around to hunt and gather.
Unfortunately their concept of gathering tends to be a bit loose. Gobblins don't much have a concept of personal property, and anything edible is fit to be cooked, whether that's a root they found in the woods or a carrot from a farmer's cellar. Homesteaders have to work hard to keep their fields and stores from being plundered, but with Florabeasts keeping watch, that's made much easier.
Gobblins don't care for Florabeasts, and anything bigger than a Turnipig can scare them off easy. No one's quite sure why they have such animosity, but it is easy to see that they don't have any Florabeasts of their own. Whether that's preference or capability, the Gobblins themselves don't ever talk about it.
Despite how much of a nuisance they are, killing a Gobblin is illegal in every territory. A long time ago, the Vatican declared they have souls just like humans do, and have to be treated the same way. Locking them up in jail doesn't help much either, since they just howl and wail for food all day.
