Stone Oath

The Stone Oath, or the Foundational Promise is an oath undertaken in the presence of the Stone Tower to represent admission to the ranks of Adventurer. This comes with privileges and responsibilities.   The common folk are required to follow your order as an Adventurer, unless a senior adventurer overrules your order, this is to assist the people, being discovered abusing this power is punished extremely harshly. As an Adventurer you are allowed to requisition supplies if you prove you do not already have some and cannot pay for them at that time. Abuse of authority is punished.   As an Adventurer you are expected to assist the common folk wherever possible and within reason. You are expected to drop all prior activities and assist in whatever capacity you are capable in the event of an Elf Attack, whether that it combat or simply relief efforts. You are expected to complete a Loop at least once every decade until retirement.   The Stone Oath has other benefits. Upon swearing the Stone Oath you are blessed by the Stone Tower. Being blessed by the Stone Tower gives a much increased rate of adaptation to ambient mana levels. This allows you to travel as far north as you wish, normal people grow sick the further North they go as the rising ambient mana levels slowly poison them.   The only other way to get around mana poisoning is prolonged and controlled exposure therapy, and this still takes much longer than taking the Stone Oath.   "Before the Stone I swear, may my soul be set. My restraints today are shed, and my future lies beyond. To my North lies Power, but duty lays the path. Ever Forward, Forever True."   This is the standard Oath, however you may swear to anything you believe in, so long as you believe it is worthy of staking yourself on.
