Angelic Host
The Angelic Host is the military of the Heavens, created by the Celestial Cylene to defend the Silver City and fight against demons and heretics. It is solely composed of angels and is divided into different branches.
While Cylene is the ruler of all angels, none of them has actually seen Her. Instead, the Seraphim Council takes their orders from The Voice who is the only one to have ever directly communicated with the angelic goddess. The Voice speaks with Cylene’s authority, and to carry doubt as to their legitimacy is to blaspheme against Cylene Herself.
For day-to-day matters however, the Seraphim Council is the ruling body of the Heavens. It decides everything, from military decisions to civic laws and its decisions are unchallengeable. All angels have to obey the laws of the council to the letter, for fear of suffering Cylene’s wrath and be cast out of Heaven as a Fallen Angel.
Below the Council, the Seraphim Order is next in line in the hierarchy. Seraphim are elite warriors and leaders of Heaven, possessing incredible power and wisdom. There are only 100 Seraphim at any one time. An Angel cannot become a Seraph without having another Seraph die and leave its place or by challenging a Seraph to a Trial of Faith.
