Treaty of Red Snow
Signed in Ink to Spare the Blood
The signing of the Treaty of Red Snow would mark the end of the Eastern invasion of Whitehelm. It was at the behest of Athera, that the parties involved came to Cal-Athera to negotiate peace. For what had started as a small regional conflict had quickly escelated when Pelliny had marched to the aid of their Colony of Bleda.
The Treaty of Red Snow would accomplish several notable goals, the first being the establishment of Bleda as an independent state. This new Protectorate of Bleda would no longer be a colony of Pelliny, and would be wholely independent of Athera. This would remove the threat to Eastern influence in the region, while limiting their ability to expand northward. The Second goal accomplished by this treaty was setting a northern border to the Eastern. Prior to the signing of this treaty the Eastern had no northern borders and saw Whitehelm as unclaimed lands of Wolfmen barbarians ready for the conquoring. This would change with the creation of the Protectorate of Bleda, which would serve as joint nation of the Vvulfjr and Bledan people. Although an imperfect comprimise to the Vvulfjr, they trusted the men of Bleda far more than the men of the Eastern and were willing to agree to these terms for the time. The third major goal accomplished by the Treaty of Red Snow was the formal end to hostilities between the Eastern and Vvulfjr, by limiting the Eastern's ability to expand northward. With the war ended and regular trade resuming these terms proved profitable for all parties.
Now in legal terms Bleda was an independent state, however in all practial terms it still served as an extension of Atheran and Pellinin athority. As Bleda was still heavily dependent upon their founding nation for supplies and resources, as well as a strong cultural affinity for the Kingdom of Pelliny.
