The Cult of the Sea Maiden follows the teachings of the monstrous sea beast Natasi who is a clawed mere-manatee, daughter of Aristor and Sela.
Structure
Pyramid hierarchy with an old cleric as the cult leader, revered as the Daughter of Natasi. The current Daughter of Natasi is a male cleric approximately 90-years-old, the first male to hold the position in recorded history. His 75-year-old daughter is favored as his successor, assuming she can outlive him.
Public Agenda
The Cult of the Sea Maiden records the teachings of Natasi and passes them on to the children of the islands. They provide counsel to leaders and arbitrate disputes. They warn of impending danger to the local islands.
Education
The cult provides a school for gifted youth on the island of Ern, hand-selecting the best of each generation for indoctrination into their numbers. Cult acolytes are learned and talented, many gaining important positions later in life as clerics, village elders, renowned bards, and master craftsmen.
