Knotty Weed
Knotty Weed is a tangling, carnivorous, aquatic seaweed cultivated around merfolk settlements, lending a natural barrier against outside nuisances.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Long seaweed strands twist in the current and tiny spines grab hold of small sea creatures. Larger creatures get tangled among the strands. Food is pulled down into a squid like maw.
Genetics and Reproduction
Knotty Weed can regrow from a separated strand at least a foot long. Knotty Weed rarely releases spores, usually only as a last resort when the maw and root network are dying.
Ecology and Habitats
Knotty Weed can become invasive. Cirrhi-na will gnaw away majorly overgrown beds of the seaweed on her rounds through the islands.
