Varilla

by hughpierre
Varillas are scepter-like insects who spend the majority of their lives in the sky.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Atmosphere

It is commonly believed that once a varilla takes its first flight, it would rarely ever land.
The gathering of a varilla swarm is thought to be indicative of a nexus of siq'i lines, since a great many can disappear before your eyes. It is uncertain how high they can fly, as priests returning from capacocha duties high in the sacred mountains have been startled when they fly off just at the edge of their vision.
(1/day). Can teleport to any other nexus within a given region

Dietary Needs and Habits

They have no mouth or guts. Varilla are able to feed on nutrients in the air and froth on the ocean's surface through their skin.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

A pair of pale antennae stick out of the nub of its head and compound eyes at the top. In order to fully see their surroundings, varillas are thought to spin about their axis as they ascend.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Varillas can be found everywhere. It is assumed that they start life underground because small varillas can be reliably found in large natural sinkholes in mountainous areas.
