Succubus/Incubus

Dante watched as the, HIS, 170th legion tore right through the ranks of the invading demons. These bastards had tried to break through the gates of Erebus a thousand times before, and never have they succeeded in even making it close. He wasn’t about to let them this time. He drew his sword and joined his men, slicing and tearing through demon flesh one by one as they quickly fell at his feet. He grinned with sadistic pleasure, bathing in the glory of demon deaths and the protection of his home.
Succubi and Incubi, hereafter referred to as succubi, are the main residents of the first layer of the Nine Hells.

Previous Celestials, now Fiends

The succubi are a relatively new race compared to others, having been created roughly 20,000 years ago. Previously they were the Angels of Darkness, servants and children to the Goddess Tina. When she was forced out of Nexus by Michael and the light angels, she came to the Nine Hells, and with her, her angels followed. Because of the large population of demons at the time, Celestials were in huge trouble while in this realm. They underwent a ritual, transforming them into fiends, and a new race; the succubi.

Masters of Illusion

While in other worlds, succubi are true shapeshifters, succubi here are only capable of illusions. That being said, they are quite skilled at it. Illusions for them are as easy as breathing for a human.

Darkness born

Unlike the angels which are incredibly varied, succubi are all tied to the element of darkness. This causes some of them to go mad with too much exposure to it, and is a huge risk as they can live forever. Despite this, it's still a rare phenomenon, since the warning signs are well documented and they know how to treat it.

Fiends, not Demons

Succubi have been at war with the other residents of the Nine Hells since the moment they got there. While everything here is a fiend, demons and devils are incredibly different from succubi. While they’re both very chaotic by nature, demons are destructive by nature as well. Calling a succubus a demon or fiend may be incredibly offensive to them, and calling them “nothing more than non-hostile demons” is like calling a human “A violent monkey”, or a merfolk “A walking talking fish”.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Succubi are built similarly to humans, and almost look exactly like humans but with horns, tails, and wings.

Biological Traits

Most succubi have bat like wings, thin sheets of leather spread across a thin skeletal structure. More powerful and older succubi have draconic wings, looking almost like dragonborn.

Growth Rate & Stages

Succubi mature similarly to angels, being fully grown by the age of 10.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Succubi are capable of gaining energy through a certain method that is often related to them, but for some, this isn't as interesting as tasting all the flavors of the world.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Succubi are similar to humans in social structure, but there is a Queen that rules them all. Not everyone is perfectly loyal to this queen, but many are. There is some rampant sexism within Erebus, as succubi are seen to be better overall to incubi.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Both genders tend to pick up and drop names as they please. Often they'll keep one name in Erebus that everyone knows them by, but on the material plane they will swap whenever for whatever.

History

Succubi were created when Tina, Goddess of Darkness, was forced to flee Nexus. She took her angels of darkness with her and went to the first layer of the Nine Hells, Erebus. She performed a ritual to transform them from celestials into fiends, a brand new race.

Historical Figures

Lilith is a well known Succubus and one of the few original angels. Dante is the first and only Incubus to ever make it to the level of general in the army.

Common Myths and Legends

There is an old legend of a succubus who went crazy and on a murderous rampage, known as Leira the Mad. Its used nowadays as a warning to everyone what happens if you aren't careful with your magic.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Succubi and Incubi are well liked by most other races. They leave them be and offer many goods and services, so no one seems to mind, despite their fiendish appearance. Light angels don't seem to like them, and this seems to stem from their past history.
