Sentient Slime
This page is about the playable race of sentient slimes. For their origin race that are similar, see Servant Slime
Suddenly, as I touched this strange object, I began to have thoughts. I began to see… something. Something larger and smaller than the world around me I’ve known. I began to recognize… Me. I am Me. Me is I, and I now exist. This is weird. This is… strange, but welcoming. I looked over in a nearby water puddle to get a look at myself. I was… a thing now. I am me, and me is I. What could’ve possibly happened here, how did this happen!? I didn’t have these answers for now, but I felt like I could… choose. Choose to go and find out for myself. Find out what this new strange thought process is. I began to slither out into the open world.Servant slimes were created long ago by a wizard who needed something better than a simple unseen servant. Something that could be seen, and could fit into smaller spaces. Something that had all the benefits of an unseen servant but was better. He created a servant slime, a small blob of ooze that could do what he wanted. From there he began to produce more and more. When he eventually died, these servant slimes were left with nothing, no master and no orders, so they began to follow instincts to go out and eat food. Eventually, when one encounters a strange object that isn’t easily digestible, the arcane origins of their slimey bodies begins to merge with the object, and this object becomes like a brain to the slime, a core.
Slime Cores
Slimes that gain a core begin to store memories, and run off of more than just instinct. They develop personalities, thoughts and feelings, viewpoints, and very quickly they develop sentience. They begin to recognize that they exist, and they know what they know, and learn to separate the self from the world. This core is their heart and brain, and is a non-malleable object, usually a small container or magical trinket.Amorphous Beings
Aside from their core, a slime's body is incredibly malleable, capable of slipping into small spaces very easily. It’s like an octopus, they can fit anywhere their core can fit into. These slimy bodies are usually translucent and colored, but are adaptable and can change color.Unusual Origins
Sentient slimes don’t fully understand everything about themselves right away, and find out through a process of experimentation and learning.Basic Information

Slimes are difficult to pin down as they don't exactly have any organs, bones, or really anything else. They have two forms, a slime and humanoid form, and both are made out of bio-magical slime produced by the core.
Genetics and Reproduction
It's unknown exactly how these slimes reproduce, or if they even reproduce at all. It's theorized that they split asexually, growing larger and larger until they are too large to sustain themselves, and split into two new slimes.
Ecology and Habitats
These slimes are found generally in dungeons or urban environments, as they attempt to know what they are.
