Canis
Aurora took one look at the yeti that stood before her. She gripped her great sword tight, panting hard from the long battle she had just fought. Her body was aching from exhaustion, but she knew she had to push on. "One more hit," she thought to herself, screaming it in her internal monologue. The yeti unleashed a ferocious roar and charged at her. She raised her sword and charged forward too, slicing into the creature's open mouth and tearing it in half. She had done it, she fought off Windhowler, a dangerous beast that had been tormenting her tribe for years whenever they would come near its territory. She looked at her kill, took off its head and started the long trip back home, to show off her accomplishment.Canis are the wolf-people of the tundras and desert, looking similar to humans, but with long flowing hair, wolf ears, tails and eyes. They are a proud and stubborn people, who won't hesitate to fight to the death to protect their homes and people. They train nearly daily, and are known as some of the best weapon smiths in the world.
Earthly Connections
Canis were created by the Goddess of Earth, Landia, and as such have a great connection to elemental earth. Whenever they do get magic users, they are almost always terramancers. Most canis tribes however don't produce mages, instead training fierce barbarians, fighters, and paladins. This connection to Landia also makes them incredibly loyal people, once you've become friends with them, you have a friend for life. This connection with the earth and the goddess Landia also makes them incredible smiths. All metal is derived from the earth, and the canis can almost see and hear the soul of the metal, listening to it to shape the material into what it should best be. A canis smithed weapon is a trusty weapon, one that'll never break with proper care.Thriving in a Harsh Land
Canis live in two of the harshest climates in the world; the tundra and the desert. Tundra Canis are nomadic, who change their location every few months to avoid over hunting and to follow new game. The tundra is not meant for permanent fixtures. Desert Canis on the other hand are practically forced to remain in villages or cities, as the desert is not a place to be wandering. They set up beside large oases, and begin to set up food for the small village they're creating.Stubborn as the Earth Itself
The other races know how stubborn canis can be, and while it can be a very good thing, it can also lead to some harsh treatment. Trying to get a Canis to change its mind is like just asking rock to move. They can be swayed with good reason, but when it comes to things that are not objective, canis are set in their ways. They stick by their beliefs and values and almost never change.Basic Information
