Angel

"They come from the temples en masse, many with saddened expressions on their face, but others with determined looks. They asked for our help, to give them a place to stay and they'll return our generosity. Many of us felt bad for them without understanding what was happening, but we took them in and helped them get back on their feet. I can say one thing, even with such sad looks, they were still as beautiful as ever." - A human farmer, estimated year 2 AF.
Angels are the children of the gods, and grandchildren to the Ancients, the creators of the universe of Fortuun. They all were, and some still are, the helpers of the gods, seeking to assist their parents in any way they can.

Tied to the elements

Angels are tied to the elements from which they were created as much as they are tied to their god. Angels not only are experts in the manipulation of their own elements, but these elements in turn leave marks on their personality. Angels often believe and live the very foundations of the elements from which they are tied to. While an angel can change elements through a complex ritual, many angels never do, as many are satisfied with their current element.

Hands of the Gods

In the years before the Fall of the Angels (which to those angels was known as the Disaster), the angels were the will of the gods. Anything they commanded was carried out by these angels, as they descended onto the material plane to personally oversee their parents will be carried out. Angels are one of the few residents of Nexus, realm of the Gods. More powerful angels who get selected for it undergo a process that turns them into Archangels, angels with 6 wings and are almost demi-gods in their own right. These angels are often looked up to as the older, protective sibling of the group, despite age and even relations.

Soulless Magic

As they are Celestials, angels do not have souls. This provides a strange case where they cannot be revived if they die, without anything short of a god casting a wish spell. Also, because they don’t have souls, they must derive their magic energy from another source entirely. According to the gods and the angels that came before, angelic magic comes from the god and the elemental plane of their element, similar to how Clerics derive their power from a god.

Missing Elements

Due to the exploits of Michael the archangel getting the goddess of darkness kicked from Nexus, darkness angels no longer exist in any plane of any sort, having all been converted to the residents of the first layer of hell, the Succubi. Shadow Angels were also never created, as the goddess is elsewhere and is far younger than any of the other gods. Beyond this however, virtually every element has angels left over somewhere in the world, whether it be Nexus or the Material Plane.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Angels look almost identical to humans, and are even just as tall and heavy.

Biological Traits

For the most part, angels of different elements perhaps look slightly different. Light angels often have lighter skin tones and hair color compared to darkness or necromancy angels. Fire angels may have orange or red hair, while Psychic angels may develop magenta hair.

Genetics and Reproduction

Angels are very similar to humans and are capable of mating with every race currently known. However, unless their partner is an angel or succubus, its more likely to create an Aasimar.

Growth Rate & Stages

Angels reach adulthood by the age of 10, assuming they're born and not created.

Ecology and Habitats

Angels were born and made for Nexus, and is the best place for them. However, Angels can exist just about anywhere in the material plane. For the Nine Hells, many angels cannot exist here forever, as their presence draws the attention of the demons.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Angels require food like every other race, and since coming to the material plane have adopted human behaviors to get by. In Nexus, angels are fueled from the elemental energies that exist in that plane, and often don't require eating.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Angels often see their God as a father/mother figure, even if they are made from other angels. They obey them like children would their parents, and see the Archangel as the wise older sibling, even if they are older than them.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Angels have unisex names, and often take names that evoke their element, e.g. Flame, Blaze, Scorch, Ignite for fire, or Tsunami, River, Ebb for water.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Angels mostly speak Celestial, but do learn Common for the sake of interacting with most mortals.

History

Angels were originally created by the gods, the children of the ancients, to serve as their link to the material plane. They followed this structure until about 10,000 years ago when The Disaster happened, and some gods died. The angels of those gods often left for the material plane or become affiliated with other elements. Since then, angels haven't been able to fly properly on the material plane.
