Solar Insidiator

The solar insidiator was an infernal device powered by an entrapped planetar or solar angel. For 50 years, this device hovered over Elturel like a second sun, radiating holy light that made the city a fortress against evil. Known as the Companion, its true nature was not revealed until it turned dark and rained unholy lightning upon the populace. The device enabled powerful magic that uprooted Elturel and transported it to Avernus.

The solar insidiator was a 50-foot-diameter sphere composed of mostly adamantine. A set of 9 adamantine rods served as keys to the solar insidiator, opening the device when inserted into nine openings placed equidistant around the equator of the device. When it was placed over Elturel, a planetar called Nascius was imprisoned within and used to empower the device.
