Rivington Rats

The Rivington Rats were a gang of smugglers and extortionists based in the district of Rivington in Baldur's Gate. They smuggled goods downriver, where they would be received by agents of the Guild at the Brampton docks. They also ran a widespread protection racket in the district, though they were known for providing reasonable protection services for the coin they charged.

Disbandment

Their last leader, an elven wererat called Shava, let her pride get the better of her when a pair of adventurers intervened in her attempt to extort money from Arfur Gregario. When threatened, they responded by attacking. Shava was killed along with one of her toughest enforcers and a third gang member.

Survivors of the fight painted a grim picture of the combat. Despite one of their members informing the others that the adventurers wanted to keep the gang together, even lead it, individual fear, greed, and ambition won them over and the gang disbanded. Only a few remained willing to see the gang continue.
