Knights of the Shield
The Knights of the Shield are a secretive society of merchants and nobles who are interested in the mercantile and civic matters of their respective lands. Based primarily in Baldur's Gate, Amn, and Tethyr, the organization gathers vital and valuable information from a network of spies and informants placed throughout western Faerûn. For many years, they have used this knowledge in mercantile practice, making wise financial investments and political connections to become richer and more powerful than the rest of the aristocracy in their respective cities. They are rumored to employ a band of militaristic enforcers as well when manipulation is no longer effective.
