2025-09-18 Down the Road a Ways

Reviewing the scene of the encounter with the hell hounds and ghouls, we suspect that it was a ritual gone wrong: a summoning of hell hounds interrupted by wandering ghouls. Ultimately, we learned little more from the scene and continued on our way.

We met a trio of halfling scouts who warned us of the violent Poisoned Talons orc tribe. Warriors of the tribe ambushed the scouts and killed two of their friends. The night after, we ran into a basilisk that was curled up in a campsite we had chosen.

The following night, we encountered the Poisoned Talons ourselves when a band of them tried to sneak up on us in the night. Pern's keen senses alerted him to the impending danger, allowing us to mount a reasonable defense. The fight so far has been intense, though neither side has been particularly effective against the others. Two Poisoned Talons have fallen, one while retreating from Ovak and Ghesh, the other from Brightstar's radiant breath. We are in reasonable shape so far, with Ovak gaining a second wind to offset some fearsome wounds.
