1492 DR 15 Nightal (The Drawing Down)

General Summary

A single intact tower stands a lonely watch over crumbled and sprawling ruins of pearlescent blue stone built into the side of the massive mountain. Dozens of cracked casements like hollow sockets survey the infinite sky. Within the ruins you glimpse a maze of chambers and passages, stairs and arches, extending into the mountain itself. Wyverns wheel above the rubble and wreckage, alighting on the spire and the mountain but keeping clear of the rest of the ruins. Far below, people go about their lives within a well-tended village of stone houses surrounding an intricate fountain. The village lies in a sheltered dell at the base of a sharply rising wall, against which stands a stone temple nearly 100 feet high. A magnificent relief of mountains against a purple sky adorns the lintel above the temple's wide doors.

After a brief chat with Renzhi about the inhabitants of Cresseret's mountain, we approached the goliaths living at the base of the mountain. We had a peaceful discussion with two of their leaders, Brasalyg and Kaalufr, learning something of their history in coming to the plane of Air, including their likely origin in the Icespire Mountains in Faerûn. While the goliaths denied us entry to the entrance protected by their temple, we elected to stealthily enter anyway. We passed through a grand hall to find a large rotunda where two stone giants were meticulously crafting a massive mural depicting Cresseret's history. Milo's keen eyes spotted something incongruous about the centerpoint of the mural, and was able to alter it from a depiction of triumphant wealth to sorrow and loss. Doing so revealed secret doors through which to leave the room.
