Knights of Holy Judgment NPCs

The High Council

High Commander Loric D'Orinelis Human Male. In his sixteenth year as the High Commander, Loric is in many ways the model of a Knight of Holy Judgment. Though his station leaves him less time to train and spar than he would like, Loric retains his strength and stout figure, his aging years only belied by his receding hairline and crow's feet along his piercing green eyes. The High Commander ran unopposed following his first nine-year term and many expect the same to be the case in his second re-election bid. Prior to his initial election, Loric served as a Hammer of Tyr after squiring for Thritheor, the famed Hammer, in his youth. A man of quiet strength, Commander D'Orinelis sets high expectations for his council and all those who serve the Triad within his ranks, but seeks to provide every opportunity and resources necessary to reach and exceed said expectations.
  • Lord Elhand Tyrannth
  • General Torzar

Followers of Tyr

  Hammer Lord Elhand Trannyth
Human Male. First Hammer of Tyr. The de-facto leader of the Hammers of Grimjaw, Elhand carries himself with all due reverence and self-righteousness befitting his position. None are foolish enough to discuss the matter with the First Hammer directly, but it is unprecedented for Tyr to have not provided a clear sign as to who should be the First Hammer since Rulidd's passing. Given Elhand's many years of experience and steady performance so far in the position, the status quo has allowed to stand. For some, however, his stewardship of the position seems to serve Elhand a bit too comfortably and they anticipate the day when Tyr will provide a clear answer as to who will lead the Hammers into the next era.   Hammer Lucan Froststride
Human Male. Serving as a sort of second-in-command to Lord Elhand, Lucan is a generational Tyrran whose family has served the Just God in some manner dating back to the late twelfth century. Originally from Bryn Shander, Lucan trained in the House of the Triad, where his grandfather still serves as a priest. Following his father's footsteps in the Knights of Holy Judgment, Lucan went on to surpass his father, who still serves as Champion to this day. Like both his father and grandfather, Lucan has a deep widow's beak and wears his dark, flowing hair tucked behind each ear.   Hammer Reyneld Frosthorn
Human Male. Dark brown hair, curling over his ears, dutiful and watching all around him with dark brown eyes. Originally an artist of some renown in Baldur's Gate, Reyneld dedicated his life to justice and the worship of Tyr following being the victim of a near fatal mugging. Training and rising in the ranks in Elturel with the intent to join the Hell Riders, Reyneld instead received a message from the Just God to journey northward to the Halls of Everlasting Justice to seek membership within the Justices of Tyr. Within only a few years of reaching the status of Paladin, Frosthorn dreamed of the hammer of Tyr and so ascended to the status of Hammer, which he has held for fifteen years. The Hammer's last known whereabouts place him in Baldur's Gate on the business of completing and procuring contracts in the south on behalf of the Knights.   Hammer Villiera "the Valiant"
Human Female. Villiera has braided blonde hair and brown eyes, and numerous tattoos honoring fallen companions. In addition to her typical Knight's equipment, Villiera is proficient in wielding a halberd. Though true of many knights, Villiera is particularly known for her optimistic outlook and chivalrous manners. Entering into her fifth decade, she carries herself with a maternal air when returning to the Halls of Everlasting Justice.   Hammer Lord Hykros Allumen
Human Male. Leader of the Hall of Justice in Waterdeep. Allumen has a stout, muscular frame and wears his long, greying hair neatly pulled back. As the only current Hammer to be called to ascension from the Knight of the Merciful Sword, Lord Hykros carries himself with an air of confidence and pride befitting his station. Serving as one of the preeminent Tyrrans in the City of Splendors, the Hammer finds himself working alongside city judges and fundraising among the social elite in equal measure. While he proudly serves in these roles, it is no secret to his subordinates the Hammer looks nostalgically on the days of serving as a more literal hammer to the threats and injustices facing the city.   Hammer Xavvoril
Half-elf Male. Xavvoril is wiry, with short blonde hair and light hazel eyes. Given his extended lifespan based on his heritage, Xavvoril is seventy years into his service as a Hammer of the Just God. With this extended tenure, Xavvoril, when he is not out completing his own contracts, is one of the most well-traveled Hammers and serves as a wealth of knowledge to the younger Knights setting out into the world for the first time since completing their training.   Hammer Argona
Human Female. Argona has a long face, with thin golden hair pulled back into a bun and vibrant green eyes. Traveling astride her white painted warhorse named Laodia, Argona frequently serves out of the Halls of Everlasting Justice in Sundabar, taking on contracts across the Silver Marches. Known as a skilled diplomat, Hammer Argona has worked alongside many policing forces across the region from Silverymoon to Citadel Adbar.   Hammer Ephen Greatlight
Human Male. Considered by many to be quite ravishing in appearance with flowing copper hair and bright blue eyes, Ephen is the near fantastical epitome of a knight in the minds of civilians. With his bright smile and melodic laugh, Ephen has no shortage of swooning admirers, and jealous accusers, across the Sword Coast. Despite these would-be distractions, the hammer takes his work seriously and lives for the thrill of the hunt for those who would bring injustice upon the innocent.   Hammer Ysoulda Dawnbraid
Human Female. Currently the youngest Hammer, Ysoulda is in her mid-thirties and has served as a Hammer for only three years. Though she is infrequently seen without her full plate armor donned, Ysoulda is exceptionally beautiful, with thick copper hair and narrow green eyes. In contrast to a majority of other knights, Ysoulda wields a pair of handaxes, handed down to her from her father, a former Champion of the Knights of Holy Judgment. Ysoulda compulsively scratches an old scar on her shoulder. Her most recent contracts have taken her south to Yartar.   Champion Nerisys Charet
Half-Elf Female. Hailing from Neverwinter, Nerisys wears long, silver hair pinned back between her pointed ears with soft facial features belying her decisive and sometimes brusque nature. Nerisys received her vision of the hammer shortly after her heroic and valiant efforts during the devastating eruption of Mt. Hotenow in 1451. Since the completion of her ascension and training in Sundabar, Nerisys has returned to serve as a champion for justice among the rebuilding city of her people.   Champion Sedral Mug
Human Male. Appointed by Rulidd, the previous First Hammer, as the liaison between the Hammers and the greater community, Paladin Sedral will receive contracts from homesteads, towns, cities and Tyr himself. He then distributes out these contracts to the divine bounty hunters. As the individual responsible for much of Tristain's training and education, the two are particularly close.   Champion Stevren Lightgem
Human Male. An aging Knight with a long, silver-streaked beard, Champion Lightgem serves as the primary tutor on practical matters of survival, tracking, hunting, fishing, and other skills necessary to Knights while serving out in the field.   Justice Frilde Nettel
Human Female. Frilde has short, cropped dark hair with freckles strewn about her face. One of the most formidable knights with a blade, Frilde boasts the highest contract completion count of any Knight prior to their second Holy Vigil. Working with a relentless appetite for justice, Frilde can often be found racing along the roadways, serving in the name of Tyr smaller communities, many of which are not significant enough to be recorded by cartographers.   Justice Varsum
Human Male. Justice of Tyr. The nephew of Lord Elhand by marriage, there are those who question Varsum's place on the High Council. Even so, those who are close to the red-haired and straight-backed Varsum speak highly of his qualifications both in devotion and leadership. Lord Elhand himself has proclaimed he believes the young justice will one day have visions of the Hammer and it is more a matter of when than if, the way Varsum himself tells it.   Priestess Julietta Vovikt
Human Female. Compiled Tyr's Ritual Days, a tome now contained in the Book of Lawgiving. Known to all as a gentle soul with a kind heart, Julietta serves as a frequent priestess in the Chapel of Justice in Sundabar. She is the third in her family to serve in such a capacity.

Followers of Torm

  General Torzar
Blue Dragonborn Male. Gauntlet of Torm. Hailing from the nearby city of Avraathe, General Torzar devoted himself to Torm early in his life, but does not publicly address the reasons why. A strong, yet compassionate man, General Torzar is respected by many for being patient and understanding as a leader, yet ferocious and driven in action. In addition to serving as the leader of the elite Torm forces among the Knights, General Torzar also serves as the singular director of military campaigns or responses on behalf of the Knights as a whole.   Gauntlet Wilren “The Steward”
Human Male. A living legends of sorts among the Gauntlets, Wildren is the author of the definitive histories of Torm's deeds from his early years as a mortal to his eventual ascension to divinity at the right hand of Tyr. Though his barrel-chest and broad shoulders give the appearance of a would-be barbarian in combat, the Gauntlet fights with surprising speed and grace.   Gauntlet Fausta Rosewillow
Human Female. She has shoulder-length dark hair and brown eyes with tattoos of a myriad of cultures running from her left forearm up her neck. Rosewillow makes no secret of the fact she was raised by cultists of Bane in Baldur's Gate and speaks as one raised in the dangerous streets. Even so, she maintains her steadfast devotion to the Loyal Fury, leaning in particularly naturally to the latter part of his moniker.   Gauntlet Safir
Human Male. Bald and clean-shaven, Safir is most recognized for his thick, perpetually furrowed brows. Dedicating his life to Torm after losing his family to an orc raid early in life, Safir is known among the Tormites for having a soft spot for the abandoned and marginalized.   Gauntlet "Even-Handed" Lydenna
Human Female. Even has white hair and dark amber eyes, and a flat nose. She wears banded mail and wields a guisarme. "Even" is righteous and courteous, to many the epitome of a Knight in her demeanor and devotion. It is no secret she and Gauntlet Safir enjoy one another's company.   Gauntlet Bethar
Half-elf Female. Bether has auburn hair and soft hazel eyes. She wears full plate armor and wields a longsword and heavy wooden shield made of fallen trees from her homeland in the High Forest. Softspoken and unassuming by most accounts, Bethar can typically be found serving in the communities bordering the woods of her youth.   Gauntlet Cedren Boreson
Human Male Cedren has uneven gray hair and large green eyes. He wears splint mail and wields a warhammer. Cedren is the embodiment of loyalty, but is equally known for his lewd sense of humor. Gauntlet Boreson primarily serves as a conduit for contracts in the city of Waterdeep, finding the metropolis particularly fitting to his lifestyle without letting it dilute his devotion nor duty.   Enforcer Rhekhen Adarbrent
Human Male. Son of Waterdeep nobility and the heir to an impressive fleet of ships, Rhekhen shocked many of his family when he departed the City of Splendors in favor of the life of an adventurer. Through his journey, he befriended a pair of brothers, Stevren and Teren Lightgem, who served as a Justice and Agent in the Knights of Holy Judgment respectively. So convinced by their sense of purpose, Rhekhen dedicated himself to the Knights, finding himself particularly drawn to Torm. Following Rhekhen's Holy Vigil, the three served as a modern Triad of Knights for many years before turning to serve as mentors in the Halls of Everlasting Justice. Rhekhen currently serves on the High Council in addition to his other responsibilities.

Followers of Helm

  Shieldmaster
Elf Female. Shieldmaster of Helm. Little is known of the Shieldmaster's role and even less of her personality. An elf older than nearly all who call the Halls home, the Shieldmaster is nearly bald, with faded blonde eyebrows and dark purple eyes that seem to look through whomever she addresses. As head of the elite Helm devotees, the Shieldmaster not only handles all of the contracts assigned to the Shields, she works alongside the Agents, and is in charge of the mysterious Inquisitors who maintain the reputation of the Knights as a secretive internal policing force.   Shield Ellisar
Elf Male. Tall, broad-shouldered, with long hair falling off to one side over buzzed sides of his head. Takes his work seriously, but insists there is fun to be had in the midst of it. Known by many in the community to be one of the busiest Knights in all the Halls, Ellisar is rarely seen in one place for long and rarer still in the Halls of Everlasting Justice. Having served for more than a century already, he is also one of the most well-regarded Knights in loyalty and service, even when he may carry himself much less seriously than his contemporaries of similar station.   Shield Teren Lightgem
Human Male. After years of traveling the road and completing contracts alongside his brother Stevren and Enforcer Rhekhen, Teren returned to the Halls of Everlasting Justice and found himself soon thereafter promoted to the rank of Shield. In this new role, Teren has focused on building up the defensive training of the Sundabar's own guards while also training the newest Squires and Knights using the expertise he developed in hand-to-hand and sword-and-shield combat he learned while fulfilling contracts.   Shield Avri Bronzetrap
Human Female. Avri is exceptionally beautiful, with flowing silver hair and piercing green eyes. She typically wears half-plate armor and wields a morningstar well worn with use. She also has an animal companion, a friendly hunting dog named Fen.   Shield Relia Amberdew
Human Female. Relia has uneven copper hair and narrow gray eyes. She wears half-plate armor and wields a heavy pick and heavy wooden shield, a testament to the miner's life her family led for generations prior to providing her enough coin to seek education and training to become a Knight, her lifelong dream. Relia is calm and modest. When not in the Halls of Everlasting Justice, Relia most often accepts contracts in her hometown of Mirabar, sometimes venturing as far as Longsaddle or Luskan on Helm's or the Shieldmaster's lead.   Shield Valyra
Elf Female. Though she has not been seen in the Halls in many years, Shield Valyra is still renowned for being one of the best archers to ever grace the training fields. In lieu of taking contracts in Sundabar, Shield Valyra travels the High Road taking on work between Neverwinter and Dragonspear Castle.   Agent Hildo
Halfling Male. One of the few of his folk to complete the squireship to become an Agent in the Knights, Hildo carries himself humbly, hoping to represent his people as well as the order in hopes of bringing more of his kin to observe Helm's precepts. Kind and polite almost to a fault, Hildo's social etiquette is second only to his zeal in battle, even if his technique leaves something to be desired.   Agent Ymir
Half-Elf Male. Agent of Helm. A thin, wiry figure with dark hair that bounces in thick curves when he gets excited about a topic of discussion or study. In addition to being one of the best Agents on the debate floor as well as on the training field, Ymir represents the Agents on the High Council and is considered among many to be one of the best sources of historical knowledge regarding the Knights. A curious and outspoken individual, Agent Ymir's passion for chronicling history belies his martial prowess when called upon.   Felaern Faran
Half-Elf Male. Agent of Helm. Scribe of the Scrolls of the Halls of Everlasting Justice. An accomplished write and orator, Felaern is the foremost expert on the contents of the Everlasting Archives.   Frilzaren
Elf Male. Priest of Helm. A noted author and orator, Frilzaren serves the community of Baldur's Gate at the Watchful Shield.

Other Members

  Squire Marthen
Human Male. Frequently found either working in the stables or guarding the gates of Sundabar, Squire Marthen is an enthusiastic and eager to please Squire always hoping to catch the eye of a Knight who might be willing to take him on as an apprentice.   Squire Meira Vos
Half-Elf Female. Though young, Squire Meira has made quite the name for herself in being the closest to ever beat Thakein in a horseback race. Gifted in not only her riding, but her mounted combat technique as well, there are many who are eager to see which member of the Triad chooses to dedicate herself to in her assumed to be forthcoming Holy Vigil.   General Maifort
Human Female. General among the ranks of the Order of the Golden Lion.   Thakein Mountainworker Ovethiago
Goliath Male. Stablemaster. Thakein has served as the keeper of the Knights’ stables for decades. All squires who serve in the stables eventually hear the tales of how Ver Makrursk saved his life after they found the goliath nearly crushed and freezing to death along a dangerous pass in the Spine of the World and the goliath pledged his allegiance to his cause on the spot. It is well known that despite his quiet nature, Thakein retains the devout competitive nature of his people and accepts any and all challenges of horseback racing or other sporting endeavors.

Historic Members

  Elzira
Human Female. The founder of the Knights of Holy Judgment who followed a vision from the Triad to depart Impiltur and eventually follow prophetic dreams to settle the new holy order in Sundabar.   Hammer Rulidd Kurchin (Deceased)
Human Male. Rulidd Kurchin was the Leader of the Hammer of Grimjaws and adopted father of Tristain. A just and true leader, Rulidd received his blessing from Tyr on his 45th name day to become the leader of the Hammers. Rulidd was a good father, but left most of the schooling of Tristain up to Paladin Sedral. He died shortly after Tristain’s 6th name day. His cause of death is unknown.   High Priest Theodoric Runewood (Historic)
Human Male. Author of the History of Justice. Known for being long winded and inserting himself as well as his opinions into history according to colleagues.   Brummar Gatecleaver (Historic)
Dwarf Male. Paladin of Helm. Though his legacy is recorded somewhere in the Everlasting Archives, Gatecleaver's name has come to be a catch-all for attribution of any legendary feat or even a colloquial term for someone's achievement which will be recorded in history.   Ver Makrursk
Human Male. A Helmite captain who eventually rose to the station of Shieldmaster prior to the current leader of Helm’s forces, Ver spent much of his early career as a liaison between the Hall of Everlasting Judgment and the House of the Triad. It was these frigid and foreboding trips which he claims hardened him to a life of service and provided him the fortitude necessary for his driven and unrelenting style of leadership.   Tormite Perelli (Historic)
Human Male. Author of the Precepts of the Code.   Gauntlet Arravis (Historic)
Human Female. Author of the Code of Torm.
