Historical Avraathe NPCs

Clan Speaker Vionik of Clan Zirthund
Blue Dragonborn Male. Holding the antiquated position of Clan Speaker, Voinik spearheaded the effort to begin the Great Migration to save his people from the desertification which devastated their crops and livelihood. Led the clans who followed alongside his to the Moon Pass of the Nether Mountains, where Avraathe would eventually be founded. Though never confirmed nor recorded, scholars often wonder if Vionek was indeed the first prophet to receive instruction from Bahamut which acted as the catalyst for the Great Migration.   Udria of Clan Phunuth
White Dragonborn Female. Udria became the first recorded individual to contain a prophecy of Bahamut within her spirit. When she shared this vision with the High Priests, they declared the now traditional Season of Mercy as a sign of gratitude to Bahamut. Operations to excavate the mountains began soon thereafter and Udria's clan was offered the rights to manage and oversee the new venture in faith that it would serve to the benefit of the fledgling community as a whole.   Supreme Commander Ornithax "Boulderfist" of Clan Thaldrash
Blue Dragonborn Male. After making a name for himself in the Moon Pass Skirmishes, Ornithax rose to further prominence in his leadership of a resounding routing of an orc incursion which invaded the mines. Legends say Ornithax earned his moniker from an encounter in which he was disarmed but managed to still defeat a small band of orcs in the mines with nothing but his fists and loose stones. In his older age, Ornithax served as the founder of the Talons of Justice and was regarded as a level-headed and discerning voice and guiding hand in the organization's infancy.   High Priestess Biniru of Clan Menonsae
Blue Dragonborn Female. The leading voice of the Council of Xymor during the completion of the Temple's construction, Biniru is oft regarded as one of the pillars of Avraathe's history. Leading with remarkable clarity and insight, she not only ensured the completion of the century-long construction endeavor, but with her fellow councilors, passed many of the foundational laws which ensured the rights of all Avraathian citizens and weighed Bahamut's justice and mercy in equal measure. Her legacy is that of formally codifying many of the values which Avraathe inspired to live by during the first century of its expansion.   Irath of Clan Reshindrath
Red Dragonborn Female. Known for her cunning, few contemporaries were surprised to discover Irath had quietly laid the groundwork for her clan to possess land next to the Bounlderdown mine with plans to excavate and open their own operations. While she provided a living's wage for her workers, Irath kept a tight grip on her growing company's earnings, ensuring future generations would be well endowed. Indeed, Stonestrike Mines, still managed by members of Clan Reshindrath with a direct lineage to Irath, is to this day the most consistently stable and well-financed operations in the Nether Mountains.   Otrith of Clan Grenak
White Dragonborn Male. Momentum of the now two competing mines gave quick rise to a third operation. Having made much of his fortune in the growing trade opportunities with dwarven citadels to the north, Otrith used his vast resources to start Flintstrength Mines seemingly overnight. The new endeavor was an immediate success. Flintstrenght Mines became the most desirable mines to work for they pioneered allowing the miner's to unionize. Their collective bargaining led to the now standardized eight hour shifts.   Hezro of Clan Mezkac
Blue Dragonborn Male. Having helped finance several of the previous mines in small portions, Clan Mezkac used the collected funds to open the fourth mining operation and the first to focus on gems and precious metals primarily, rather than the staple of platinum exclusively.   Councilor Rethdra of Clan Dradke
White Dragonborn Male. As a High Priest, Councilor Rethdra was known as shrewd and progressive for his time. He pushed beyond the often conservative and closed-off mindset of Avraathe's traditions and looked beyond the walls for opportunities for Avraathe to grow in prominence and positioning. Negotiating for the alliance with Silverymoon is a flagpole achievement of his dedication to working peacefully within the region, setting Avraathe up for future success and opportunities.   Arzruk of Clan Draskroran
Red Dragonborn Male. While certainly not the first to show a spark of sorcery, Arzruk was perhaps one of the first to master and harness his abilities with intent and purpose. An inspired diviner, Arzruk served both the Talons of Justice and the Judges of the Platinum Keep in discerning critical intel. Upon realizing the growing prominence of those with natural access to the Weave, Arzruk went on to found the organization which eventually evolved into the Augurium which served to teach and train sorcerers in a safe and welcome environment. The school the evolved further to become the Academy, overseeing all primary education within the city.   General Godfry "The Sentinel" Dewhunter
Male Human. Gofry became the first member of the human clans to rise to the rank of General within the Talons of Justice. He earned his moniker from enduring a record-setting twenty-three bouts during one-on-one hand-to-hand combat training. Sentinel's Stand became an annual event in which members of the Talons of Justice or Platinum Order could strive to beat his record. Many have come close, but so far his record has not been topped.   Lenhra of Clan Khelmo
White Dragonborn Female. When a mine filled with gold ore was discovered as an offshoot of the Boulderdown Mines, the miner who discovered the vein sealed off the cavern and brought the information to their clan. Lenhra quickly arranged purchase of the surrounding land and began excavating to lay claim to the pocket of gold ore before Boulderdown miners could rediscover the collapsed pathway. The Khelmo clan succeeded in their gambit, though word spread of their efforts and relationss between the two organizations have been heated ever sense.   Councilor Jacominus Landgrave
Human Male. Longtime supports of the Temple of Bahamut, the Landgrave family produced several Temple Keepers throughout their lineage. Jacominus was the first and so far the last to achieve the station of High Priest upon returning to Avraathe after years of travel and exploration. According to contemporaries, his sharp features and furrowed brow belied his soft voice and humility. Jacominus served on the Council for several decades. Using connections he made through his time abroad, Jacominus led the charge in formalizing arragements between Avraathe and Sundabar as its human population grew during this time.   Ulkos "The Thunder" of Clan Delmiriv
Blue Dragonborn Male. Ulkos served in the military from the moment his hands could hold a shield. He ultimately rose to the station of Platinum Order General and oversaw the attempt to defend Citadel Felbarr alongside Silverymoon. Though breaking the siege was unsuccessful, this setback did not tarnish the reputation of Ulkos, as it was seen as a wise assessment of a difficult situation by his superiors and the soldiers at his command. Ulkos liked to say he earned the moniker "The Thunder" from the deep bellowing of his commands, but those who kept his company knew its true origin came from the volume of his belches when drinking.   Battalion Leader Parathorn "The Unbroken" of Clan Verthisathurgeish
Blue Dragonborn Male. Parathorn oversaw several battles during the War of the Black Horde, leading the charge in each of them. Several of his speeches and words of inspiration and encouragement are carved into the walls of the Talons Barracks, as well as the mind's of those who call it home. Parathorn earned his title "The Unbroken" during the Battle of Rauvincross, though legend and history blur together as to precisely how. The generally accepted answer is twofold. Originally, the moniker surfaced because of the magical and unbreakable shield he carried as a relic of Clan Verthisathurgeish. During this final battle, however, it is said Parathron exuded this same resilience and steadfastness in himself and embodied the title more so than the shield ever had. Numerous stories and renditions of how Parathorn and his men broke the siege of Rauvincross spread throughout Avraathe. Conflicting reports and eye witness accounts make it difficult to conclude with any certainty as to what exactly happened. All agree, though, on the major points of the story: Parathorn and a handful of Platinum Order members made a final push to break the siege. They were ultimately successful, buying enough time for the others to escape. Parathorn fought valiantly for as long as he could before death finally overtook him, making sure anywhere from fifty to five hundred orcs met the same fate that day. And, perhaps most curiously, by the time the Order found his body, his clan's relic had already been pilfered.   Odelina Havengleam
Female Human. Presiding over the Thousand Years Feast, Temple Keeper Odelina had the task of chronicling and retelling the history of Avraathe through her first millennium. While her overview obviously portrayed the city through the lens of the Church of Xymor, it became a landmark document which serves as a holistic approach to not only the history of Avraathe, but also the unique perspective of how the Temple sees history versus other firsthand accounts. Odelina would go on to serve as Temple Keeper for another two decades before retiring in the Temple Ward. To date, she is one of the longest tenured Temple Keepers to serve Avraathe for seventy-six years in total.   General Relhza "Fire's Fury" of Clan Mordrend
Red Dragonborn Female. Given her moniker for the generous use of her scorching breath, General Relhza of the Talons of Justice oversaw the operation to reclaim Citadel Ferbarr from the would-be Kingdom of Many-Arrows on behalf and in partnership with Silverymoon. Using the narrow corridors and extensive caverns to her team's advantage, the General personally worked to literally smoke out the orcs and lead them into subsequent ambushes and traps. It is said her laughter and revelry could be heard throughout the halls as she gave chase to her enemies.   Colonel Gorzoth "Demon Bane" of Clan Mezkac
Blue Dragonborn Male. As second-in-command of the Platinum Order, Gorzoth personally led the charge in the Assault on Hellgate Keep. Alongside the Blue Bear tribe and an outpost of Harpers, the Platinum Order held fast against an onslaught of hellish fiends pouring out from the open gate while the Harper's focussed their efforts on closing the gate permanently. The united forces of the three parties are successful and the Blue Bear tribe claimed the Keep as their own. The Colonel's moniker's inspiration drew directly from this conflict. Reports count as many as forty-nine fiends fell directly by Gorzoth's blade.   Supreme Commander Percival "The Firestarter" Bronzeroar
Human Male. As the leader of the Talons of Justice through the 1360s, Percival Bronzeroar navigated three major conflicts - the reclamation of Citadel Felbarr, the War of the Wilds, and the Assault on Hellgate Keep. Though not personally present for any of the three conflicts, Percival's leadership, strategic planning, and judicious deployment of troops and supplies are cited as major factors for each encounter's success. It is also documented "The Firestarter" made a habit of training with new recruits on a regular basis, even into his old age and, though less frequently, in retirement as well. He earned his popular moniker, as many soldiers do, in the days of his youth when he nearly burned an entire wing of the barracks down with an errant deflection of a combustible projectile.   Councilor Adri of Clan Othrumi
Red Dragonborn Female. A devout believer and strong-willed woman, Adri was considered by her peers a force to be reckoned with during her time on the council. When the opportunity to join the ultimately short-lived nation of Luruar arose, it sparked great debate amongst the High Priests. Councilor Adri fought definitively against the measure, looking to only three years prior when the region's instability drew Avraathe into two separate conflicts within months of one another. Ultimately, Adri's persistence wore down those in favor of the alliance and Avraathe made its first step towards isolation following the previous precedents of collaboration.   Councilor Reldeis of Clan Othrumi
Red Dragonborn Male. A second-generation High Priest, Reldeis' mother's shadow loomed large over much of his early tenure. The comparisons lessened when Reldeis made his first major legislative initiative to provide accommodations and job opportunities for those displaced by the worst of the Spellplague, a move seen as in direct opposition to his mother's rejection of a new alliance with the region. This shift saw a massive influx of dwarves, half-orcs, and other races previously underrepresented within Avraathe. To this day, the diversity which continues to grow in Avraathe is in part of Councilor Reldeis' efforts.   Nindis of Clan Teilzo
White Dragonbonr Female. Descended from a long line of Augurium attendees and Academy professors, it was no surprise to her clanmates when Nindis set out to become an author at only the age of ten years. Her first published work, the Origins of Avraathe, immediately became a cornerstone of the Academy's curriculum. Her other projects have included biographies of historical figures and their lives outside of the roles they are known for in history.
