Everlund
The hub of mercantile and business along the road between Silverymoon and Yartar, Everlund can more broadly be viewed as the conduit through which most information and commerce flows between the Sword Coast and Silver March regions. Like the center of a cart's wheel, the Bell Market sits in the center of the city with the roads leading to the city's five gates stretching out like spokes toward the city's stone wall. The stately, well-maintained structures along Everlund's main roads feature pitched rooftops of storybook tiles, tall spires, and colorful banners denoting family crests and mercantile company brands alike. A pair of bridges span the Rauvin River. Along the river front, ancient trees shade recreational parks filled with benches and tables welcoming visitors to escape the bustle of the city, if only temporarily.
Notable Locations
The Champion's Arena
On the outskirts of the city, beyond the walls and surrounding fields of grain, the new coliseum attracts attendants and participants from across Everlund's network of mercantile interests. After observing the explosive popularity of the pit fights hosted in the Missing Minotaur, the Zoar family sought to provide a spectacle on an even grander scale. With magically modified terrains and no shortage of beasts and brawlers willing to battle for coin and glory, the coliseum filled to near capacity seemingly overnight and expansions are already underway for additional seating. The Arena is rapidly becoming a new primary entertainment destination for visiting merchants with coin to spare.Barracks & Armory
Home to the longstanding Army of the Vale, the barracks and armory both sit along the south bank of the Rauvin River between the Knightbridge and Dwarfbridge. Taverns & Inns
Danivarr's House
A renovated mansion formerly owned by the titular Danivarr family, the inn would be for many the social hub of Everlund were it not for the Bell Market and new arena. High quality and priced accordingly, Danivarr's is the most common accommodations for merchants with coin, meaning it becomes by necessity a congregating space for adventurers and mercenaries in search of work. The mansion was purchased several years ago by the Zoar family, along with the adjacent mansion which is now connected to the original inn by bridges across the second and third floors, doubling the space available for guests. The inn is run by Dral Thelev.Dreaming Dragon
A dignified, but unpretentious atmosphere, the tavern features regular retellings of great stories and performances of ballads, often covering local legends and histories, both of which are celebrated by the elves and halfings who make up a large portion of the tavern's regular clientele. The elven wine served at the Dragon is held in particularly high regard.Stag at Bay
A more subdued drinking hole for the hunters and rangers who spend their waking hours venturing the woods beyond the walls, the Stag at Bay is located near the Silverymoon Gate. The tavern gained its name from a tapestry depicting an elven hunt hung on the wall behind the bar.Missing Minotaur
The newest tavern, the Missing Minotaur was built shortly after the Spellplague's conclusion. It has since established a reputation as the tavern of choice for the rougher elements of the city that were less welcome at other establishments. Even so, the tavern's remains bustling with all manner of visitors who come to watch the brawling and sparring matches that take place more nights than not.Temples & Shrines
Evergreen Hall
Just outside the western wall on the north bank of the Rauvin River, the Evergreen Hall is a beautifully, naturally hewn temple to Mielikki. Just beyond the hall itself lies a grove of oak trees and a grotto dedicated to Shiallia, the ex-arch of the Forest Queen. The Keep of Vigilance
Everlund's temple to Helm, The Keep of Vigilance formerly served as a barracks for the Army of the Vale and stands proud in the northwest corner of the city near the Upriver Gate. In competition to the mercenary outfits of the city, the Helmites of the Keep are a popular choice for merchants in search of caravan security or personal guards during their stay in the city. The Starmeadow
A clearing in the natural woods along the northbank of the Rauvin River, Starmeadow is a sacred site dedicated to Corellon, the patron god of all elves. Though there are infrequently formal services or events, the space serves as an always-available space for meditation and reflection for the many elves who call Everlund home. Shrines In addition to the temples of the city, smaller shrines can be found throughout the city, especially those dedicated to Oghma, Shaundakul, and Waukeen.Notable Organizations
In addition to the Zhentarim and Harpers who both hold a strong presence in the city, a number of factions are unique to Everlund.- The Black Buckler: A mercenary outfit of ruffians and rogues known for their extreme loyalty, even if it only extends to the individual with the largest coin purse.
- Sarthun's Shield: A relic of previous years, Sarthun's Shield was once a proud and noble band of mercenaries whose aging members now serve primarily as additional pomp for city or private events. Occasionally, the Shield will taken on a bit of personal bodyguard work or expand the ranks of a merchant's caravan, though even these roles seem to be more about appearances than anything else.
- Tathtard's Rose: A loosely-organized guild of merchants, this exclusive insider's club of mercantile pursues no purpose beyond the increasing wealth of their members through whatever legal means available.
