Avraathe NPCs
The Augurium
Notable Members of the Augurium & Academy
Headmaster Chaucer of Clan TeidrathWhite Dragonborn Female. Definitively in her later years of life, though she stays in good health thanks to a myriad of potions and her routine patrols of the city. As part of her role as headmaster, she makes a habit of searching out sorcerers and aiding where needed as a servant to the greater public. Headmaster Chaucer was skeptical of Vorothruun from the beginning of his admission trials at the Augurium, and was particularly sharp towards him due to his lack of “natural talent” and faith in Bahamut. Scars from years of wild magic trace her veins like crackling lightning or the roots of a tree all over her arms. Headmaster's Aide Grellen of Clan Thaldrash (Deceased)
Blue Dragonborn male. A gifted sorcerer who quickly rose through the ranks after mastering some of the most difficult material contained in the academy's library. He showed not only magical prowess, but an impressive amount of perception and insight during his time as a formal student. He currently serves as the right-hand man of the headmaster and is on the shortlist of her eventual successor. It has been noted by others in the community that his rapid ascent to success has created distance between him and his former classmates. Grellen's detractors mark this as a major concern for his potential and future capacity to lead. During the events of Dradke's betrayal of the city, it was revealed Grellen had been an ensorcelled accomplice of the traitorous High Priest, teleporting the Platinum Gems coming from Orin's mine into the Underdark. Grellen was telepathically murdered by Dradke when he revealed the priest's whereabouts. Professor Agtrazar of Clan Kelthoro
Dragonborn female. A particular compassionate professor who trains mostly new students who are unfamiliar with their powers. She provides a safe space for processing not only the physical demands, but also the mental and emotional as well. A devout and sincere follower of Bahamut, she works to lead through the principles of "enlightened mercy" and to set an example for her students as they continue in their studies. In particular, she takes a special interest in the potential outcasts or otherwise marginalized students. Professor Balasar Kelceran
High Elf Male. An Augurium professor of divination and outer planes. He admired Vorothruun for his curiosity and aptitude, but being a man of serious faith to Bahamut (despite not being a dragonborn or originally from Avraathe), he was perpetually disappointed in Vorothruun. Thava of Clan Delmiriv
Blue Dragonborn Female, a childhood friend of Vorothruun’s from school. She also went with Vorothruun to the Augurium. A war orphan, she became extremely driven to make something of herself. Her parents fought under Parathraaj, so he kept an eye on her, which is how the two children met. She was the most talented diviner in Vorothruun’s class. She was also the only person that had an idea of Vorothruun’s pact with Ragnalla before his arrest. One late night in the library, Vorothruun fell asleep studying and started muttering in Eldritch in his sleep, and convulsing from visions. Knowing this was not normal even among sorcerers, Thava confronted him about it. Vorothruun denied that anything was amiss and did not confess his pact. During the events of Avraathe in winter 1488, Thava becomes a defacto authority among the members of the Augurium, serving as a communication coordinator for the leaders of Avraathe during the orc assault on the city. Rhogar of Clan Reshindrath
Red Dragonborn Male, Rhogar was a classmate of Vorothruun’s at the Augurium. Typically berated Vorothruun for his introverted nature. He reported Vorothruun to the Augurium for suspicious activity and heathenry after he spotted Eldritch writing in one of Vorothruun's’s notebooks, which lead to his being found out and arrested Seldra of Clan Durorlas
Bronze Dragonborn Female. The head librarian of the Augurium. Like many librarians, Seldra firmly believes in maintaining the order and sanctity of the place of study and learning she has fostered amidst the collection she continues to expand constantly. Her rules are strict and her punishment swift. Her temper can be softened, however, by making donations to the library in the form of new tomes. She has little patience for those who do not value their own education and growth. Zothis of Clan Menonsae
White Dragonborn Male. An older student who while having an arcane spark, never particularly had the willpower not drive to finish his studies. Instead, he spends most of his days in the library hopping from book to book and looking for people to talk to. Other students who get dragged into his rambling and disjointed conversations are said to have fallen into the "Zothis Zone" from which there is no return. Professor Thezh of Clan Grarshock
Bronze Dragonborn Female. An advanced arcane professor who focusses on the sorcerers with wild magic capabilities and helps them practice the necessary preparedness and flexibility that comes with responding to one's own infinitely unpredictable magical effects. Her coursework and exams are considered some of the most difficult to complete, but are often put on public display for the amusement of the crowd for one never knows what to expect when wild magic is put to the test. Beldan Runehammer
The Dwarf male bartender and proprietor of the on-campus tavern, Library of Libations. Beldan is of the few dwarves to rise from the rank of miner to study in the Augurium and then all the way to member of the Platinum Order. As he tells it, he was "one of the best damn fighters this side of Dalagar's Dagger, and that was before I even knew a damned spell too." His massive warhammer, whom he affectionately calls Nora, which sits framed above the bar, is battered and worn, but the magical runes carved into it by his own arcane spark are still quite visible. Beldan is one of the few citizens of the city to live in both the Talon's Barracks and Augurium in a single lifetime. After retiring from the Platinum Order after losing a leg, he determined he could best serve his fellow students by providing a different element of education in the way of specialty cocktails. The experiment was an immediate success and has become a staple of the greater community. During the recent events in Avraathe, Beldan aided his companions in defeating the terrorist Telzoun and fought valiantly during the final courtyard battle against the general of the invading orc forces.
The Talons Barracks
Tomas BattlefangOwner and operator of Patrol's End, the most popular tavern in the Temple Ward. Younger brother of Dormas Battlefang, Battalion Leader of the Platinum Order who is currently still unconscious in the Barrack's infirmary.
Notable Members of the Platinum Order
General Maldur of Clan KaskrondBlue Dragonborn Male. The colonel to the previous general Parathraaj, he is advanced in age but still quick-witted, discerning, and undeniably brilliant strategist. His surly attitude and barrel-chested build makes him all the more foreboding in meetings and conversation. His booming voice crackles with lightning at the slightest offense to him, his superiors, or his faith. Colonel Eso of Clan Phunuth (Deceased)
Blue Dragonborn Female. A traditionalist in every sense of the word, Eso believes irrevocably in the honor and discipline and absolute devotion to the word of the law and the tenaments of the Temple Keepers. Her strong jaw and scarred nose speak to her strength and endurance. She barks orders as a leader comfortable in the position and sure of her direction. Colonel Eso was killed by Telzoun during his spree of terror over Avraathe in Hammer 1488. Interim Colonel Zolenez of Clan Teidrath
White Male Dragonborn. A senior member of the Order, Zolenez has been content to remain a captain. Eight of his twenty soldiers have served with him for more than a decade, while the other twelve rotate with some regularity. He has found this to be a rewarding and important position in which he feels a sense of familiarity with his team but also has the opportunity to teach and set an example for the newest members of the Order. He directly oversaw the training of both Captain Kodrathe and Strizo, as well as Parathrax and Dormas before them. Acting as interim Batalion Leader for Dormas, Zolenez was then forced to served as Interim Colonel following Eso's untimely death. Battalion Leader Dormas Battlefang (Unconscious)
Male human. Rose through the ranks alongside the previous Battalion Leader Parathrax, but initially lost the promotion to his comrade. Following the day in which Parathrax killed the previous Colonel Lautrec and escaped with Vorothruun, Dormas has served in his place. What first felt like impossible boots to fill now feels second nature to the bright and brass human of thirty years. While he cannot tolerate the actions of his once closest friend in the Order, he holds out a desperate and fleeting hope that Bahamut's mercy will make sense of everything eventually. Has been in a coma since the end of the War of the Silver Marches . Captain Kodrathe of Clan Durorlas
Bronze Female Dragonborn. A colleague of Captain Strizo and a relatively young captain, Kodrathe is the most recent promotion to the role. She is a third-generation member of the Platinum Order and is eager to prove her devotion and dedication. She's constantly looking for the next chance to prove herself worthy of the role of captain and eventually the next Battalion Leader as well. Gravely injured, but recovered from the War of the Silver Marches. Captain Loren Brokenwheel
Human Male. Trained under Dormas Battlefang, but disagreed with his superior's order and did not take part in the Battle of Sundar Siege until reinforcements were being sent in. Based on how well he stepped up and led a troop of men in the absence of Captain Strizo, Loren was promoted with little preparation. Though a great deal of natural leadership, he is working on the discipline necessary to guide his troop back from an unprecedented loss. Captain Strizo of Clan Kelthoro (Deceased)
White Male Dragonborn. Having only reached the age of adulthood for Dragonborns in the last few years, the young member of the Order looked up to the previous Battalion Leader Parathrax as a role model and guide. He quickly spiraled into depression and doubt upon the events leading up to his betrayal. Strizo has sworn justice against the traitor should he ever discover him. Captain Strizo has signed up for double duties in the watchtowers for the last year in case the coward decides to show his face once more. Captain Strizo fell in battle as the second wave of soldiers in the siege of Sundabar.
Notable Members of the Talons of Justice
Supreme Commander Vergraks of Clan GrarshokBronze Dragonborn Male. A previous general of the Platinum Order, Vergraks has served in the Talons for nearly 75 years in all. While he no longer bears the physical form for leading battle directly, his mind for tactics and strategy hand-in-hand are unmatched and undefeated. There have been numerous incursions and other threats while he has manned the helm, but he holds one of the lowest casualty rates of any Supreme Commander prior. Shrewd with resources but generous with wisdom, he strives to lead by teaching and leaving the post in better shape than he found it. A close friend to Parathraaj, who served as his General to the Platinum Order for a number of years. The two fought alongside each other for years and still meet regularly to relive the old days as well as scheme and plan for the next inevitable threat. Colonel Vyodaar of Clan Othrumi
Red Dragonborn Male. Recently promoted and one of the youngest colonels in a Avraathe's history, Vyodaar distinguished himself as a bright mark against the dismal defeat in Sundabar. Vyodaar quickly rose through the ranks following an upstanding career within training at the barracks and his education within the Academy. A lifelong sparring and training partner of Parathrax. Despite not always seeing eye to eye on matters of faith, a topic in which Vyodaar delved deeply and devoutly, the two carried a mutual respect and healthy rivalry for one another. Many see Vyodaar as slow to trust, but decisive in action. He agrees with the recent shift towards isolationism in so much as it benefits the city as a whole and allows the Talons to focus on the defense of Avraathe exclusively without worrying about threats beyond the Moon Pass. Vyodaar was gravely injured during the orc's assault of Avraathe, but made a miraculous recovery. During the recent events, it was common knowledge of his affection for a newly promoted Talons member, Madlyn "the Shield." Captain Irudru of Clan Kelthoro
White Dragonborn Male. In addition to serving on dozens of patrols and offensive strike forces beyond the walls of Avraathe, Irudru has also lived a portion of his life as a traveling ranger throughout the Moonpass Valley. For several years, he even lived among the half-orf barbarian tribes, learning their ways of survival in the harsh environments of the Nether Mountains. As such, Irudru has become the resident expert on the orcish language and countering the savage tactics of the roving bands of orc scavengers and raiders which have oft plagued the Moonpass Valley. During the orc invasion of 1488, Captain Irudru fought and served alongside the heroes of Avraathe, providing invaluable insights and translations for captured orcs, allowing the city to prepare for the forthcoming dangers.
The Platinum Keep
Notable Members of the Platinum Scale
Judge Veskis of Clan Suldrembrod, Overseer of Justice (Deceased)Blue Dragonborn Male. Considered by many a harsh and overbearing leader, Judge Veskis was quick to institute the Platinum Scalers when it became clear the Talons of Justice were insufficient in policing Avraathe properly. His men serve on his authority and have picked up his penchant for swift justice. Despite these known concerns, Veskis' position is considered secure thanks to his close knit relations with the High Priests and fellow Justices. Murdered by Telzuun, Veskis' body was discovered pierced by a spire of the Temple of Bahamut following the Feast of Fortune. Judge Trethri of Clan Draskroran, Overseer of Finances
Red Dragonborn Female. A sharp and brilliant minded scholar who completed her time at the Academy at the top of her class. Shrewd and conservative, she is sometimes resented by her fellow Justices and others within the Temple and Talons for her immovable budgets and refusal of providing extra funds or dipping into the storehouse surpluses for immediate needs. Despite this, she is quite close with many of the elite of the city, some who enjoy her company and others who seek her influence and insight. Judge Thren Wyvernthorn, Overseer of Infrastructure
Dwarf Male. Often pointed to as a tale of the benefits of hard work and determination, Thren Wyvernthorn began his time in Avraathe as one of many miners working long and difficult hours in the Boulderdown caverns. After years of savings and careful investments in the city, Thren started his own construction and contracting operation, which took off with great success thanks to initial help from the Craftsmen Collective. When an opening in the Platinum Keep became available for an expert in infrastructure, Thren was a popular nominee and accepted the position with gratitude and excitement. He often pushes against the bureacracy which prevents what he sees as necessary and simple projects to break ground, but believes he is doing good work for the city when he is able to make progress on his various endeavors. Judge Drekog of Clan Khelmo, Overseer of the Keep
Blue Dragonborn Male. A highly respected leader who served in the Talons of Justice for many years before being nominated to overseeing the security of the subterranean vaults and prison quarters. Drekog takes this role seriously and has an impressive success rate of preventing what few escapes or break-ins have been attempted during his tenure. Judge Sarliax of Clan Verthisathurgeish, Overseer of Records
Blue Dragonborn Female. Though much of her clan leans towards careers in the military, Sarliax found herself more comfortable in the studies of the Academy and thrived in the academic environment. With an almost encyclopedic memory, she was a natural fit for the Overseer of Records position in which she has served for going on two decades. Clerk Amalie Commonshield
Human Female. A top of her class student of the Academy, Amalie's expertise lies in the realm of history and anthropology, though she uses these focusses to study and master a wide variety of topics. A regular of the Library of Libations, Amalie often enjoys Beldan's retelling of stories and learning from the other students and regulars as well. She serves in the office of Judge Sarliax, helping tend to the records and enjoying privy access to the historic files for her own perusing.

The Temple of Bahamut
Notable Members of the Temple Keepers
Keeper Verhena of Clan PhunuthBlue Dragonborn Female. The Keeper who is most frequently seen leading daily prayer services, Verhena is beloved by much of the community for her simple and open-minded approach to faith. Where some see a form of Bahamut's mercy in this approach, Verhena draws the ire of others who wish she would be more aligned with the dogmatic approach of previous generations. Keeper Aetra of Clan Thaldrash
Blue Dragonborn Female. Advanced in age, Aetra only recently dedicated her life to the Temple Keepers following the death of her husband in the defeat at Sundabar. Having just completed the training process, Aetra serves as an apprentice Temple Keeper the Keeper Verhena. Keeper Morrin Hammerheart

Morrin voluntarily serves the graveyard shift prayer services so he can share his faith with those he used to serve directly.
The Seven High Priests of the Temple of Bahamut
Councilor Porath of Clan Mordrend
Red Dragonborn Male. A staunch and conservative man of faith, Porath struggles to hide his disdain against those who believe and live differently than himself. As the longest tenured Temple Keeper, Porath often served as the main liaison between the High Priests and the rest of the city and presides over the most formal functions while other Temple Keepers focus on Rites of Rebirth and daily prayer services. With the death of High Priest Tedrog, Keeper Porath quickly found himself promoted to the a seat on the Council based on his experience with the other members and his dedication to the Temple. Councilor Helna Summerdrake
Human Female. Though the Summerdrake family can trace their origin back to some of the original clans present at the Last Battle of Moon Pass, Helna is the first of her linage to serve as High Priest. Middling in age and often finding herself divided between the progressive and conservative voices on the council, she is assumed by many to be the deciding vote on a number of policies. This status means she is often approached by those lobbying one way or another. Councilor Rethdar of Clan Dradke (Imprisoned)
White dragonborn Male. Growing up in one of the merchant families which migrated to Avraathe following success in trade routes connecting the city with Silverymoon and the world beyond the Silver March, Councilor Rethdar Dradke's life epitomized privilege and opportunity. To no one's surprise, Dradke rose to prominence within the temple community, serving as the youngest high priest since the founding of the Platinum Temple. The ease of life shattered the day his son, Lautrec, was murdered by his subordinate during a criminal execution. Though outwardly Dradke's life appears to have returned to normal, those close to him are concerned he is withholding his ongoing grief. Following his betrayal of the city, Dradke was captured and brought back to Avraathe where he resides in perpetual imprisonment with a life sentence of isolation. Councilor Ozen of Clan Mezkac
Blue Dragonborn Male. Born of one of the longest tenured mine operation owners in the city of Avraathe, Ozen originally studied to take over the family business before distancing himself from his sizable inheritance and pursuing a life of faith instead. Originally serving as a Temple Keeper for several decades, Ozen often presided over the Rites of Rebirth with a sincere joy and honor. High Priest Ozen was voted onto the Council unanimously when a vacancy opened. From the outside, Ozen is viewed as a steadfast and calming presence within the often tense discourse. Councilor Zagtra of Clan Menonsae
Blue Dragonborn Female. From a clan most notable for their monetary contributions and funding of the Temple of Bahamut, Zagtra was to many on the outside a peculiar and unexpected choice to round out the council of High Priests at the time. While it was not her faith or devotion which was questioned, for she had regularly attended prayer services, whether her family's investments had played a role in her quick ascent to the role of councilor was whispered quite frequently beyond the platinum walls of the temple. As it stands, she has been viewed as a staunchly progressive voice within the council, often arguing for the concerns of the Augurium and its growing population of scholars and sorcerers. Councilor Ebrus Bronzeroar
Human Male. The Bronzeroar name became famous overnight during the War of the Black Horde after Ebrus' great-grandfather Erebrus defeated the orc general Skullsbane in hand to hand combat when both of their weapons broke during the combat. Ebrus followed in his footsteps, briefly serving as a member of the Platinum Order before losing a limb to a training accident. Ebrus then applied himself to pursuing a life of faith and in his later years of life has served as a consistent and guiding hand of the Temple of Bahamut. He is considered to be a voice consistently championing for the military's concerns and its solider's wellbeing. With the three assassinations which took place at the hand of Telzuun the Heathen, Bronzeroar recently accepted a promotion to the new position of Justiciar. In this role, Ebrus serves as connective tissue between the three pillars of Avraathe overseeing the military, replacing the Justice position of the Platinum Keep, and continuing to serve on the Council of High Priests. Following the conclusion of Dradke's efforts, Bronzeroar demotes himself back to his role as a High Priest and dismantles the Platinum Scalers and role of Justiciar as the city enters into a new era of peace. Councilor Celu of Clan Delmiriv
Blue Dragonborn Female. High Priest Celu is the longest tenured member of this current council and in so is regarded as overly conservative by some of her younger and more progressive peers. She often recounts stories of her youth and a nostalgic view of how Avraathe should operate and function despite decades of changes which have occurred in the city and the region beyond. Despite their fair share of differences, High Priest Celu is revered for her lifelong service and her dedication to the Platinum Dragon's will. Councilor Tedrog of Clan Othrumi (Deceased)
Red Dragonborn Male. An unprecedented third-generation High Priest. Both Tedrog's father and grandmother served on the council for decades and the Othrumi name is one spoken with high regard and respect. Known to have a passionate focus on the economic wellbeing of the city, Tedrog is considered particularly well read in the topics of trade, negotiations, and political studies. Tedrog's daughter Verhena currently serves as a Temple Keeper. Aside from his political astuteness, Tedrog is also known to have quite the fiery personality and hold grudges indefinitely. Tedrog was murdered by Telzuun during the Season of Mercy.

While the demand for this role has decreased in the wake of recent events, Zizzurm has started working on other projects as well. Orind Orefall Dwarf Male. Proprietor of the Thread and Needle, Orind found himself of a more nuanced and nimble skillset than many of his dwarven brethren who were more naturally suited for the mines. Goolri Underforge

Female Dwarf. The leading voice on organizing action against the Judge of Finance's office. Once part of the Orin's inner circle, she refused to be a part of the inequality which was forming amongst his ranks and now looks from the outside in.
