Abbey of the Wise Master

The Abbey of the Wise Master was founded in 248 DR by Aldrich the Devout. It is considered the "Soul" of Dalaran. The Abbey is managed by the Black Monks and operates as a cathedral, college, and library.

On the 200th anniversary of the Abbey, Saint Dunston sent Benedict the Black from Halrarahh to Dalaran with instructions to found the Black Monks. The monks were instructed to seek, uphold, challenge and spread the truth. In 1182 DR, the Abbey was attacked by the Wanderer. This humanoid raised the dead from the adjacent cemetery and they flooded the nave. The Wanderer blew apart the eastern chapel wall and entered the Abbey. He was confronted by a warrior and massive magical and physical battle erupted. The Wanderer was driven back and the warrior was killed. The tomb of the Warrior is located just inside the west entrance.
