Temporal Element: Nothing
The second of the dualistic temporal elements, which represents the end of possibility. It is the end of the spiral in the endless river of entropy. Just as all things spawn from root, so too do all things end in nothing.
Nothing, also referred to as end, Death, terminus, and dark matter, exists at the opposite extreme of the timeline from root, representing time's end. Like root, nothing is a demiphysical substance that is capable of affecting all forms of existence, whether they be physical, spiritual, or informational.
While root gives rise to each of the primordial elements, nothing's presence grows in strength as the terminal elements condense and combine.
When nothing makes contact with other existences, it spreads like heat to that existence, diluting as it does so, while also bringing that existence closer to its end. In its purest forms, nothing ends everything that it comes into contact with, devouring its future until it is spent.
Nothing can be contained in crystal stasis, due to crystal's incredible resilience to time. However, all things end eventually, and its containment cannot last forever.
While it may be confused for the terminal element of void, void only represents a gap in ether left behind by force. Void's negative pressure pulls other matter into itself to fill the gap left behind. Nothing is not merely the absence of matter, but the final end of it. The space left behind by nothing cannot be filled by something else, for that space itself has been brought to its final end, and no longer exists.
