Kaelen Marr
Commander of Economy
Mental characteristics
Education
Marr never attended a traditional academy. Identified as a mathematical prodigy at a young age, he was pulled from the standard Nexus education track and placed under the Officer of Economy's analytics division.
His education was a specialised, accelerated curriculum focused entirely on abstract systems: econometrics, predictive modeling, game theory, and resource flow analysis.
He has no formal training in history, arts, or social sciences, viewing them as fields of useless, unquantifiable data.
Employment
As a teenager in the analytics division, he single-handedly designed a predictive economic model that was so accurate it became the backbone of the entire Ministry.
His moment of fame came during the "Cascading Ration Failure of '12," when he used his model to flawlessly anticipate and reroute resources, preventing a system-wide economic collapse.
The previous Commander, an old politician, could not ignore Marr's inhuman competence. Upon the old Commander's retirement, Marr's appointment was a foregone conclusion; no one else could run the system he had built. He was elected not for his personality, but because he seemed the only person for the job.
Intellectual Characteristics
Kaelen Marr's mind operates like a quantum computer. He possesses a supreme talent for computational and logical processing, viewing the entire Fortrop economy as a single, fluid equation that he can see and manipulate in real-time.
He can model the second, third, and fourth-order consequences of any economic decision with terrifying accuracy. His profound weakness is his schizoid nature: he is fundamentally incapable of understanding or valuing unquantifiable human variables.
His models can predict that a certain action will lead to riots, but he cannot comprehend the fear, hope, or rage that fuels them, dismissing these concepts as "irrational noise" that contaminates the purity of his data.
Morality & Philosophy
Marr subscribes to a philosophy of Radical Systemic Objectivism.
There is no right or wrong, no good or evil; there is only "optimal" and "suboptimal". His entire moral framework is based on the mathematical efficiency and long-term stability of the Fortrop's closed economic system.
He would divert the last medical supplies from Eir Station to repurpose their chemical components for a 0.5% increase in nutrient paste production efficiency, and he would do so without malice or hesitation.
He is not cruel; he is simply indifferent to the human cost of a perfectly balanced equation.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Marr is driven by the intellectual desire to solve the most complex puzzle in existence: a finite system fighting against infinite entropy.
He doesn't crave power, influence, or wealth for he finds such things illogical. His motivation is the deep, quiet satisfaction that comes from achieving perfect optimisation.
Social
Family Ties
He has no functional relationships.
His parents are data points who live in Prism, but he has not spoken to them in years. He has never had a partner or close friends, as he neither desires nor understands companionship, viewing it as an inefficient use of time and emotional energy.
Social Aptitude
Kaelen Marr has zero social aptitude and no interest in acquiring it. He communicates in terse, direct, and data-driven statements, often via text-based communiques rather than in person.
He is utterly immune to praise, flattery, criticism, or threats. The other Commanders find him deeply unsettling to deal with, as social pressure and political maneuvering have no effect on him. People do not interact with Marr; they submit proposals to his models and receive brutally honest, purely logical, and often terrifyingly inhuman answers.
