SP05: Downfallen

SP05 or the Downfallen Demise is a shapeshifting creature that appears as a staircase or a intricate building with a staircase in times of fog or low visibility. If it's victims travel down the staircase it will then consume it's victim whole.

It is considered to be one of the most mysterious phenomenon that lie within the Worldtree Exclusion Zone due to it's elusive and non-anthropomorphic nature.

Hunting Methods

Since the Downfall Demise does not have any clear signs of being able to move about or change, rather that it simply appears out of the fog, and disappears into the fog, it does not have any clear hunting behaviours and therefore cannot be easily traced nor can it be prepared against.

It is has only been witnessed in times of low-fog and it seemingly tends to prey on groups of 3-4 people, especially those who seem like explorers or people seeking to research the worldtree, it does not seem to hunt merchants or people passing through, but that may also be due to the staircase preying on the researchers' curiosity.

Mitigation & Avoidance

The most advised way to avoid being consumed entirely by the staircase is to simply not travel down staircases or enter buildings that have not been mapped or charted.

Although records of the area around the worldtree haven't been properly documented (mostly due to it's shifting ephemeral nature) it is advised that a person must keep vigilance and stay awake and aware of their surroundings during times of low fog.
