SP01: Ring

The Moon-thief deer-beast that enraptures tourists into a catatonic stupor.

SP1 or as colloquially known, Moon-thief is a creature that can appear to some as mythical deity but is in fact incredibly dangerous to interact with. Its likeness is often compared to a deer, moose or horse as it has a set of four long spindly legs, a large stocky body and antlers that form a circular shape which comes across like a ring.

To locals it is a bad omen and a haunting sight, and it is highly advised to look at it as little as possible and try to escape as quickly as possible.

Hunting Methods

It's main hunting strategy is to prey on it's victim's sense of awe. If eye contact with it is held for more than a minute the victim will fall into a stupor and be unrecoverable. It is believed to be one in many denizens of the worldtree, and such it does not consume the body, but can be seen dragging or moving the corpses to the base of the worldtree as offering of nutrients.

Since it is infamous within local folklore and warned heavily about within guided tours, the Moon-thief's main hunt is foolish and ignorant tourists who do not heed the warnings. It is regarded as the most dangerous and risky animal, and yet for those unacquainted or unwilling to heed the ample warnings, it seems like an innocent or near-divine beast.

Mitigation & Avoidance

The best way to survive the moon-thief is to avoid looking at it and get away from it as quickly as possible. It isn't a beast that pursues and so if you run or even walk quite fast, it will not chase after you.

The key is to avoid getting caught in it's aura, you have a couple seconds to a minute which varies on the person's mental will, but overall once you've identified what you're dealing with you should be actively trying to get away and getting as much distance between it and yourself as possible.
