Opened lock
Ahmi quickly surmises the difficulties and begins by securing the lock into the floor with the tip of her dagger through the small shackle. Having realized the gears are linked to the key cylinder with a causal probe she intwines a length of thread through the teeth and slowly pulls the set forward by pulling the thin string with her mouth as she sets the finely cut pins within the keyhole with her tools.
A smooth turn of the mechanism releases the shackle with a single musical note, an A-sharp to be exact, as a small slip of material drops from a hidden compartment.
The piece of impossibly light fabric unfolds over and over again, starting from a rectangle a little smaller than her fingernail and unfolding to nearly the size of her hand. Ahmi could immediately tell it was woven from extremely fine spider silk, while the ink held a definite sharpness of refined oil. There was no doubt a single spark would ignite the entire sheet in a bright flash that would not leave as much as a single piece of ash in the aftermath.
The lettering was educated, though the material would be hardly suitable from a stranger's point of view. An obvious retelling of several strangely combined myths, children's tales and a few famous snatches of over-used poetry. Between the lines and behind the cliches was an entirely different piece of literature. It was a letter specifically to her.
"Welcome to Gothic, our subterranean sister. I hope you have enjoyed your stay so far. We are always happy to welcome new professionals to the capital with the hospitality and respect they deserve. As you obviously understand there is a significant amount of important work that needs to be done whenever a new associate is brought into the fold, which does require substantial resources. Fortunately for your purse a situation has presented itself which would be best approached by a newcomer like yourself. This errand will be accepted in trade. The images at the bottom of this sheet are six former members of our family that have decided to accept a request which the head of the family has already denied. Their greed is an unsightly show of personal weakness that will not be tolerated. See to their fatal punishment through whatever means you deem fit and you we be given full access to our resources and employment opportunities as any family member. We would suggest utilizing your allies for assistance, unwittingly if at all possible. You will be given *guest privilege throughout the city during this trade of services and wish you luck in your endeavors.
Those that Truely Appreciate Wonder"
*(We will discuss "guest privilege" on Tuesday before the guys get there)
Six small, though well detailed drawings show three humans (one female), two elves (both male) and one gnome (female) with enough individual characteristics that they should be recognizable in the flesh as well as their names.
While no details of where one would meet "Those that Truely Appreciate Wonder," it stands to reason that once your errand has been accomplished you would have little problem finding them.
You now have a small, finely made lock, with a bent key, and a very flammable letter.
