Gamics are highly evolved humans who were created during and after the Bleaching.
(Work in progress, also I'm absolutely terrible at anything relating to biology so this may be a bit inaccurate)
PHYSICAL FEATURES
Their bodies have substantially changed, growing large crests on their arms, legs, and from the top of their head to the base of their back. These are designed to radiate the excess heat produced while running hot (similar to how elephants radiate heat with their ears). Their skins have adopted a glassy sheen due to protective proteins acting as the first defense against ionizing radiation. Most have a generally slim and short build that minimizes the area radiation particles can damage.
BEHAVIORAL FEATURES
They require an unnaturally high amount of sleep, especially after running hot. While running very cold they will want to sleep the entire day, sometimes even for weeks at a time. However, these longer rests provide them with longer lives, health benefits, and allows them to forgo sleep for a few days afterward.
METABOLISM
They are able to go into long periods of hibernation while running 'Cool', while also allowing them short, high-intensity bursts of energy while running 'Hot'. While running hot (as they call it), their metabolisms massively accelerate, while their consciousness speeds up and allows them to experience time at a substantially slower rate. In contrast, running cool/cold allows them to speed time up relative to others, while conserving energy and rebuilding the resources needed for another hot push.
RADIATION
Gamics have an extremely high tolerance for radiation, stemming from the high-rad environments left after the Bleaching. This comes in handy in the modern era as it allows them to use atomic technologies with much more impunity. They possess hyper-accelerated DNA repair abilities, along with redundant and rad-hardened genes. While running hot their ability to repair their DNA is accelerated greatly, vice versa if running cold. In the modern day, Gamics planning to run cool for long periods of time will typically sleep in specialized rad-hardened pods.
