The Gray

The place beyond death: the afterlife. Even after the fall of the gods, people clung to the belief that the deceased traveled to the Gray after they died. In Prima Lux, Estrosh governed the Gray; however, after the gods were disgraced, the throne of the Gray was no longer occupied. In death ceremonies, no one is given tribute to help guide the dead to rest; rather, they must find their own way.

Geography

It is said to be perched on the horizon, the line between the Light and the Dark. If one stares long enough, they might see the clouds of the Dragon's Eye.

The Gray is split into two regions: the Inner Sanctum and the Outer Sanctum. The Outer Sanctum is a place of hardship and desolation. As Estrosh was the creator of the Gray and is also the divine of storms, the Outer Sanctum is plagued by a constant maelstrom known as the Dragon's Eye. Souls who wander through the Outer Sanctum are destined to live an afterlife of eternal struggle. It is a place for the sinners and malcontent, and they may never breach the walls of the Inner Sanctum. The Inner Sanctum is a garden, bordered by expansive walls that keep the winds of the Dragon's Eye at bay. The garden is Edenic, never sunny but never unkind. It rains half the time, but gently so, and the souls that wander the paths are content and blessed in their afterlife. They are the saints and do-gooders who lived well enough to pass through the storm outside unscathed.

Fauna & Flora

While the Inner Sanctum is populated with ever leaf of flora imaginable and unimaginable, the Outer Sanctum is barren of life save for the husks of former souls and ghoulish creatures that shriek and snap after anyone who might stumble too close.
