Sunderkin (Drow)

In the Republic of Coello there lies a mountain, broken from the Stormlost Peaks. Mount Sunder, as it is called, harbours a fell energy, strange and aberrant, the haunting image of it torn from its fellow peaks has been a source of many myseries. The Anterellans who lived in these parts tell stories of Forande defeating Servants of the End and during the battle, the mountains in the Sundered Pass were levelled. Some believe it was the work of giants that moved the mountain, or that during the creation of the world it was somehow split from the Stormlost Peaks.   Nevertheless, the caves of the mountain have been home to a small offshoot of Elfkin, the Sunderkin. Once Ormerine Elves who eons ago travelled from their home of Farfadet to the south of Stormrock and like elves tent to do, their form adapted to the strange magic of the area. Akin to the evolution of the Árálfar into the fey elves tied to the natural seasons or the elongated lifespans of the Druidic Elves from Ancien's forests, the Sunderkin look a lot different from Ormerine Elves. Their skins range from pale lilac to deep fig hue, they are often tall and lean, their ears exceptionally long. Their eyes are often monochrome (although those with non-Sunderkin lineage often have regular eyes), often coloured white, black, or gold. Most often they have pale hair, although jet black is natural but extremely rare, and often they wear it long.    Sunderkin historically have lived in the caves of Mount Sunder, although in the centuries after the Golden War more and more have migrated to the cities of Coello. On a similar note, whilst once they would have spoken Old Elven, now most speak Coellan as their first language. These caves are home to many strange creatures and sinister hauntings, and throughout history, Sunderkin communities have battled with these evil creatures. These communities often consist of a small collection of families, and whilst some remain underground for their whole long lifetimes, most will take trips to the surface to gain access to supplies from the cities.
