The Iron Manticore

The Iron Manticore, a tavern located on the west side of the city of Rethmar. This large tavern is owned by a retired iron worker, Chester DeWitt who worked in the foundry producing steel. Chester was injured in an accident and lost an arm. He now has a gnomish mechanical arm. He opened this tavern with the only money he had saved. He has built it up and improved it over the years. This tavern is made out of an old burned out smithy. The forge acts as a fireplace to keep the chill out and even cook something every now and then. Most of Chester's crowd here at the Iron Manticore are men from the foundry and the smithies. Iron Stout ale is served and Ten Coins wine red and white are served here as well. Food is inconsistent but usually on Freeday there is some sort of roast over the fire. The furniture is hardy, rough, hand carved with thick plank tables held up with a single center leg made out of a stump and old anvil from the burned out blacksmith shop. Chester has two daughters and a son that also work in the tavern with him. His eldest child his son, Cyril and his wife Maisie work at the bar serving drinks. His eldest daughter Ramona and the youngest, Scarlet serve drinks at the tables. Both daughters are still single and Scarlet really wants to become an adventurer. The locals are respectful of the ladies and don't take kindly to adventurers disrespecting them.   Chester himself works in a small smithy behind the tavern making artwork out of scrap iron. He makes tiny iron or steel manticore’s he sells at the tavern. Some of them are quite expensive and are exceptionally fine work. Even a wizard or two has purchased them.
