Pangonant
This creature combines a leafcutter ant and a pangolin. The creature is both a climber and a digger. It digs massive underground networks of tunnels and large rooms. Some rooms are for rest and sleep others for a nursery and the largest rooms are for growing mushrooms.
Leaves and dead wood are harvested from massive trees and the forest floor or trimmed from sick trees and carried back to the nest. The workers tend to the debris collected and arrange it to grow mushrooms. The animal feeds on the mushrooms to survive.
They will farm mushrooms and dig huge burrows too. Three kinds of mushrooms. a Portobello, oyster, and shelf. The oyster type is very poisonous to humans and elves. However halflings, dwarves and gnomes all find the very delicious and addictive. It is for that reason those races avoid them as well.
A big giant ant, armored scales, mandibles shaped along the snout that cut and a long sticky tongue. Thet long tongue helps them place the mushrooms high enough to grow properly without getting trampled. The tail is somewhat thinner than a typical pangolins' but also has a stinger at the end that injects formic acid. Six thick legs ending in three clawed feet are perfect for climbing the huge trees or digging out massive burrough hives. A quasi-hive mind exists as they operate on pheromones yet if isolated may function perfectly normal.
