Iounium
Iounium: This unusual and extremely rare material has a few secrets that those uninitiated to psionic sciences are typically unaware of. This alloy is manufactured with burned out or dead ioun stones of any type. First, all it radiates a faint psychokinetic aura with a purplish hue. Second, the material can be tapped for power points, though doing so can be very dangerous and it may even destroy the item. To tap into the power of a Ionium, the own must place it to his bare skin and expend psionic focus as a standard action. The owner then gains 1d6 temporary power points.
This metal has a passive power that is not used to gain power points via psychis or psion abilities it is theorized to block the psionic blasts of illithid's and other psionic creatures.
On a roll of a 6, the owner gains another 1d6 point points and must roll again. On subsequent rolls of 6, another d6 is rolled and that many power points are gained until something other than a 6 is rolled. Any time the owner gains more than 9 power points from the item it is destroyed delivering a further number of D6 damage as had been rolled previously. i.e. if a 6 and a 3 are rolled the first six rolled 1d6 cold damage and upon the three being rolled an additional D6 of psychic damage is rolled. However if 5 sixes are rolled the wearer takes an additional 5d6 psychic damage on top of all the various damages already taken.
If the item is not destroyed, it cannot be used for power points again the user takes .
Immediately upon receiving power points, regardless of the number of times a d6 was rolled, the owner then takes energy damage equal to the total number of temporary power points he has gained (no save). The type of energy is determined by the last roll of the d6: 1: cold, 2: steam, 3: electricity, 4: sonic, 5: acid.
