Yochthri
“In the silence of the midnight hour, a flicker stirs the dark; not flame, not flesh, but a soul too waxen to die. That’s a Yochlol's child. Be polite. They keep the Night dreaming, not screaming.” - The Architect of DreamsOnce malformed horrors known as Yochlols, these abyssal-born entities were deemed unworthy even by their Abyss Mother. Cast from the Abyss and left to wither and melt, they were discovered by Quellen, the quiet goddess of night and rest. With mercy unknown to fiends, she reshaped their essence, melting their waxen husks into radiant, ever-burning candles that lit the quiet dark and warded off nightmares. Those reborn were called Yochthri, the Nightkeepers; guardians of Night and sacred watchers of The Dream. Though many fear their eerie forms, few dare challenge the protection they offer in moonless hours; when the Nightmare wonders.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Size: Medium
Speed: 30 feet
Creature Type: You are an Ooze. While in your humanoid form, you count as both Ooze and Humanoid.
Waxen Core: Your true form is a semi-sentient mass of wax and shadowstuff. As an action, you can shift between two forms:
- Waxen Form (Ooze): Amorphous, waxy mass. You lose the benefits of any worn armour, and cannot cast spells that require verbal or somatic components unless you have a magic item that enables it. You can advantage squeeze through tight spaces as small as one inch, and are immune to being grappled or restrained unless the effect restrains oozes or the other creature is an ooze.
- Humanoid Form: You appear as a vaguely humanoid figure of your choice with candle-like (The colour of your candel-flame) eyes and flickering veins. You can wear armour, wield weapons, and cast spells as normal. You cannot replicate a creatures appearance or change your humanoids race/appearance.
